FA Cup 2nd Round Opta Facts - 4-7 Dec

Salford City v Hartlepool

In the last round, their first ever FA Cup Round 1 appearance, Salford defeated League Two side Notts County.

Hartlepool have won their previous four away ties against non-league opponents, last losing in Round 2 in 1999/2000 to Hereford.

Pools were eliminated by non-league opposition last season, losing 2-1 at home to Blyth Spartans.


Barnet v Newport County

Barnet haven't progressed beyond Round 2 since 2007/08, when they beat Burton in a replay at Underhill.

The Exiles' last win in Round 2 came back in 1985/86, when they beat Torquay in a replay.

The Bees eliminated Newport in Round 1 in 1970/71, winning 6-1 in their only previous FA Cup meeting.


Chesterfield v Walsall

This is the ninth FA Cup meeting between the two, with three of the previous eight games being replays. Chesterfield's only victory in these games was in an Intermediate Round in 1900/01.

The Spireites have scored 19 goals in their last nine home FA Cup ties stretching back to November 2007.

Walsall haven't progressed to Round 3 since 2007/08 when they won a Round 2 replay against Northampton.


Leyton Orient v Scunthorpe United

Orient have never met Scunthorpe in the FA Cup, despite 52 league meetings since 1958.

The O's have progressed from four of their last five Round 2 ties, stretching back to 2008/09.

Scunthorpe have progressed from 10 of their last 11 Round 2 ties since 1997/98.


Millwall v Wycombe Wanderers

These two sides met in Round 2 in 2000/01, with Wycombe victorious in a replay at Adams Park after a goalless draw at the Den.

The Lions are unbeaten in 11 home FA Cup ties against sides from lower divisions than them, winning nine and drawing two since losing 1-0 to Woking in 1996/97.

Wycombe have progressed to round Round 3 in just one of the last 13 seasons (2010/11).


Northampton Town v Northwich Victoria

Northwich Victoria are the lowest ranked team left in the competition - they play their football in tier 8 of English football (Northern Premier League Division One North).

Northampton haven't reached Round 3 since 2005/06, losing five of their six Round 2 games since then (D1).

Northwich have never won an away FA Cup tie against Football League opposition, losing 13 of 15 games (D2).


Portsmouth v Accrington Stanley

Pompey have eliminated Accrington from the FA Cup twice, in 1925 and 1959.

This is Portsmouth's first appearance in Round 2 since 1982/83, having spent 29 years in the top two tiers of English football between 1983 and 2012. They lost three Round 1 ties between 2012 and 2014.

Stanley have kept one clean sheet in their last 13 FA Cup games, stretching back to January 2010.


Sheffield United v Oldham

This is the first FA Cup meeting between the sides since March 1915 in Round 4, with United progressing in a replay.

The Blades haven't been eliminated in a Round 2 tie since 1980/81 against Chesterfield, progressing in seven since then.

Oldham have progressed in five of their last six Round 2 ties since 2006/07, though their only defeat came last season to Doncaster.


Stourbridge v Eastleigh

This is Stourbridge's third Round 2 tie since 2011/12. They've been eliminated by Stevenage of both previous occasions.

Stourbridge have won each of their two previous FA Cup proper meetings with non-league opponents, beating Biggleswade Town and Dover Athletic.

Eastleigh reached Round 2 in 2014/15, losing 2-1 to Southport. This is their only previous Round 2 appearance.


Yeovil v Stevenage

The Glovers have progressed in each of their last five FA Cup ties against sides in the fourth tier, stretching back to 2000/01.

Yeovil have won three of their last four home FA Cup games, though the defeat against 11-time winners of the competition Manchester United.

Stevenage have scored in 10 consecutive away FA Cup games since November 2009, netting 16 goals in the process.


Rochdale v Bury

This will be the first FA Cup meeting between the two local rivals since November 2003 - Rochdale ran out 2-1 winners in Round 1 that day.

However, the Shakers have progressed in the other two FA Cup meetings with the Dale (third round in 1946 and 1980).

Rochdale have made it to Round 4 in the last two seasons in the FA Cup, while Bury haven't gone beyond Round 2 since 2007/08.


Cambridge United v Doncaster Rovers

The only previous FA Cup clash between Cambridge and Doncaster came in the third round in 1981/82, in which Rovers were 2-1 victors.

Doncaster have progressed from three of their last four Round 2 ties.

The only time in the last seven seasons Cambridge United have gone beyond Round 2 was last season, in which they eventually fell to Manchester United in a fourth round replay.


Colchester United v Altrincham

Colchester have progressed from Round in six of their last seven appearances at this stage.

Altrincham are looking to make it to the third round for the first time since 1995, in which they were beaten by Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur.

Alty were last in the second round of the FA Cup in 2001/02, losing 2-1 to Darlington.


Exeter City v Port Vale

The only previous FA Cup contest between the two sides came in November 1952, as Exeter lost 2-1 in a first round match.

Both teams have scored in Port Vale's last seven FA Cup games.

This is the Grecians' first appearance in Round 2 since 2009 (lost 4-3 to MK Dons). They last went beyond this stage in 2004/05, taking Manchester United to a replay in the third round.


Peterborough United v Luton Town

Peterborough and Luton have met once before in FA Cup history, as the Hatters were 3-0 winners in Round 3 in 1983.

The Posh have progressed from 12 of their last 13 second round ties, but were eliminated at this point last season by Colchester United.

Former runners-up Luton have gone beyond Round 2 in two of the last three seasons, but needed a replay to see off Bury last season.


Dagenham and Redbridge v Whitehawk

The Daggers saw off Morecambe in a first round replay 4-2. Prior to this Dagenham and Redbridge hadn't scored in eight FA Cup games (including replays).

This is Whitehawk's first appearance in the FA Cup proper, seeing off fellow non-leaguers Lincoln City 5-3 in Round 1.

Sam Deering scored twice in Round 1 for the Hawks as well as setting up Danny Mills for their opening goal.


Bradford City v Chesham United

On their way to the sixth round last season, Bradford defeated non-league opposition in round 2, seeing off Dartford 4-1.

The Generals claimed their first ever Football League club scalp by defeating Bristol Rovers in Round 1. They've only made the third round once, in 1979/80.

The Bantams were last eliminated by a non-league side in this competition in January 1985, losing to Telford United in the third round.


Oxford United v Forest Green Rovers

Oxford have won each of their last four FA Cup ties against non-league sides, but needed a replay in two of them.

Forest Green were last in the second round in 2009/10, seeing off Bath City before losing to Notts County in Round 3.

Rovers have won four of their last five away games in this competition proper.


Welling United v Carlisle United

Welling have now made it the second round in two of the last three seasons. They haven't made it to Round 3 since 1988/89.

Carlisle haven't lost to a side lower down the league pyramid than them since 2011, losing 1-0 in Round 3 to Torquay. They've won the three games since.

The Wings have only beaten a Football League side once in their FA Cup history - Gillingham in a first round replay in 1989.


Grimsby Town v Shrewsbury Town

Grimsby's 5-1 over St Albans in Round 1 was their biggest in the FA Cup since beating Luton 7-1 in January 1996 in Round 3.

Six of Shrewsbury's last seven games in the FA Cup have been away from home - they have won once in those six (D1 L4).

Padraig Amond scored twice from the bench in Grimsby's Round 1 win over St Albans. Both goals were in injury time of either half.
