Leeds can take the sting off a Wasps victory
It is not surprising that Leeds are struggling in the Guinness Premiership, so far failing to win a game and odds of 7/1 say they can end that record against a rampant Wasps side who are 1/16 to record their sixth league win of the season.
Life has been hard for the Tykes so far and only a draw against Newcastle at home has seen them come away from a game with points that weren't losing bonus points although they do look like they are improving.
They will take great heart from only going down by six points away at undefeated Saracens last week and another performance like that will see them easily stay within the handicap which gives them a 19 point head start at odds of 10/11.
Wasps meanwhile destroyed Gloucester away in their last game and come in to this match expecting a facile win with Serge Betsen (16/1 for first try) back captaining the side and the likes of Paul Sackey (11/1) and David Lemi (11/1) on the wings they have a side to rattle any opposition defence.
Tom Varndell drops to the bench having been granted rest as he has so far played every minute of competitive rugby and looks a good bet to come on and score the last try at 11/1.
Joe Worsley also returns to the pack and makes Leeds' task even more daunting and they will need Andy Gomarsall (33/1 for first try) to use all his experience to create chances from scrum-half and most of Leeds' tries this season have come from forwards, so someone like Kernan Myall at 11/2 to score anytime could be the one if you fancy them to notch a try or two.
The away side should be able to stay within the mammoth handicap so a winning margin of 6-10 at 10/1 or 11-15 at 7/1 look like the best choices for a home team winning margin.
With a lot of the markets in favour of Wasps looking short, a bet on the first half being the highest scoring at even money could be a good investment as we often see teams taking their foot off the gas once bonus points are secure and just concentrate on defending.
Wasps have only lost one of their last 11 games and that was to London Irish and have also won their last 14 home games so anyone thinking there could be a miracle result is wishing in vein but the improving Carnegie side should be able to stay in the handicap and maybe pick up another losing bonus point.
