William Hill pay out on Oscar for Colin Firth

William Hill have already paid out on all bets, placed before Monday 12pm, on Colin Firth to winning the best actor Oscar.

The King's Speech is 1/6, with William Hill, to win the best film at the Oscars next week cut from an original 15/8.

At the time of paying out, Firth was 1/50 to win the award with bets of up to £1800 being placed. He is now priced at 1/66 which is the shortest odds that Hill's have ever offered in Oscars betting history, beating the 1/50 that was on offer for Helen Mirren for her portrayal of the Queen.

"We are so confident that Colin will win the Best Actor Oscar, that we are now taking bets on how long his winner's speech will be," said Hill's spokesman Joe Crilly. "He has already bagged the three big awards so far this year and is just 1/66 to scoop the biggest of them all."

The King's Speech is 40/1 to win all five of the big awards that it is nominated for - Best Actor, Best Film, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress.

Hills will also be betting in running for the first time ever so punters can place their Oscars wagers as they are watching the latest action from the red carpet and are hoping to take five figures during the show.
