Schaub desperate to play
Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub is bidding to make a premature return from injury against Jacksonville on Monday, despite the match having no real meaning.
Schaub has been missing from action for the past few weeks after suffering some stiffness in his knee but the only pain he has felt is watching his team fall further out of play-off contention.
"I feel like I'm getting to the point where I can go out there and play," Schaub said. "I'm feeling really good."
The all AFC South match-up between the Texans and Jaguars looks like being a fought encounter but, with both teams languishing behind the divisional leaders, it is more for pride than anything.
The Jags came out on top in week four, narrowly snatching victory with a late field goal, and they are priced at 29/20 to complete the seasonal double.
Although, the result could hinge on whether Houston are able to start Schaub or have to settle for second-choice Sage Rosenfels, and if it is the latter, you have to favour Jacksonville.
On the winning margins market it could pay dividends to back either team to win by 1-6 points as a close game can be expected. The 4/1 about Jacksonville and the 7/2 about Houston are both attractive options.
Also, both teams have failed to put big scores on the board of late, so look for a three point field goal conversion as the first scoring play. Again, the 7/2 about Jacksonville and 10/3 about Houston to make the score 3-0 is where the value could lie.
