The Yankees look set to continue their dominance atop the AL East
Since time began, the New York Yankees have seen success. Having won 40 World Series pennants, more than double that of their nearest rivals, it is a case of the rich getting richer at Yankee Stadium.
However, a recent drought has seen them take only one title back to the Big Apple in 11 years. A bone of contention for pinstripe fans worldwide is that during the same period, their bitter divisional rival Boston Red Sox have won twice, denying them bragging rights. However, it looks as though that streak will end soon enough with the Yankees currently 5/2 to win the American League and return to the World Series.
Having already built a commanding lead in the AL East, they recently traded for experienced hitter Ichiro Suzuki from Seattle, adding to their already impressive outfield line-up. Team stars Derek Jeter and CC Sabbathia will be expected to lead the team through a post-season run, and into the Fall Classic, and they are currently priced at 5/1 to win it all.
Team manager Joe Giradi will be hoping that this weekend’s series against the Red Sox, broadcast on ESPN America, will provide a platform to grow their divisional lead and ensure that come October, his team is the one on the lips of all baseball fans.
