William Hill Punter Nets £50k On Baseball Bet Ahead Of World Series
The St Louis Cardinals joined the Texas Rangers in the World Series and William Hill make the Rangers 5/8 favourites to lift the Commissioner's Trophy.
The Cardinals are offered at 7/5. By winning the National League, the Cardinals won one lucky Hills punter £50,000. The online punter believed to live in London staked £400 on the Cardinals winning the National League at odds of 125/1.
Hills have released a number of specials including 200/1 for any player to pitch a no-hitter, a feat not achieved in World Series history since 1956 when Don Larsen did so for the Yankees. Hills also offer 100/1 for a triple play to be turned and 12/1 for the series to end with a walk off hit.
"The culmination of another fine season could see the Cardinals add to their already bulging trophy cabinet but to do so, they will have to overcome a Rangers side in rampant form who are the bookies firm favourites," said Hill's spokesman Joe Crilly.
The Cardinals are the 4/5 favourites to win the first match at Busch Stadium with the Rangers 21/20.
