April Preview: Champions League, The Masters & The Grand National
April offers an action packed month of betting opportunities, and we've got it all covered here at the Home of Betting.
First off, the cricket World Twenty20 concludes, with the final held on the 6th April in Bangladesh. With scant chance of the home nation winning, will India, Sri Lanka or South Africa triumph?
Just prior to the conclusion of that, snooker fans can look forward to the China Open in Beijing, but the biggest even on the snooker calendar is, of course, the World Championship at Sheffield's famous Crucible, which begins on the 19th April. Will Ronnie O'Sullivan retain his crown?
The football season inches towards its zenith, with the Champions League and Europa League quarter-finals, while the Premier League looks set for interesting battle between Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool at the top end of the table.
If you enjoy a different shaped ball, then we have a wide range of markets, including enhanced offers as club rugby's finest go head-to-head in the latter stages of the last ever Heineken Cup in its current format.
Of course, the biggest betting event in April, is the 2014 Crabbie's Grand National. Taking place on Saturday the 5th, the Saturday of the Liverpool meeting is without doubt the most well known horse race in the world. It's anybody's guess who wins it, but we all enjoy the uncertainty. The stands are sure to be buzzing with excitement and anticipation as the three day Aintree Festival prepares to welcome home a new National hero. Later in the month, we also have the Scottish Grand National.
Golf lovers aren't left out in April as the Shell Open takes place in Houston, while the world renowned Masters tournament takes place in Augusta, Georgia, beginning on the 10th. Will Tiger Woods ever wear the Green Jacket again?
As we lead up to the French Open, the clay court tennis season is in full swing with the Monte Carlo Masters, while international competition is also on the agenda as the Davis Cup quarter-finals and Fed Cup semi-finals take place.
With a raft of rule changes in Formula One this year, it's sure to be an exciting, uncertain season. The early signs are that the Mercedes cars will dominate, but Red Bull certainly have the resources to catch up over the course of the season and will expect to compete at the top of the grid in the Bahrain and Shanghai Grand Prix, held on the 6th and 20th respectively.
Finally, basketball fans will be licking their lips in anticipation at the NBA play-offs, which begin on the 19th and can be viewed via our very own William Hill Television - on which we also stream Football, tennis, darts snooker and ice hockey - but whatever your sport, whatever you choose to bet on, here at the Home of Betting, we hope you enjoy this April.
