Froch vs Groves: Million Pounds Set To Be Staked On Biggest Bout Since Haye/Klitschko!
Ahead of one of the most anticipated boxing matches in recent history, William Hill can report huge support from their punters for both fighters. With the six figure turnover mark already surpassed, that number looks set to peak well above £1m as boxing fans get involved on the day of the fight. The last fight to attract such interest was the David Haye and Wladimir Klitschko bout.
"This fight has been billed as one of the biggest fights in history and we are expecting punters' cash to reflect this," said William Hill spokesman joe Crilly.
Britain's biggest bookmaker makes Carl Froch the 4/6 favourite to win the fight while George Groves is 5/4 with the draw 22/1. Despite his status as favourite for the bout, it is Groves with whom the betting public have been siding in the build-up. A Groves victory is currently Hill's biggest loser with a Groves victory in round 3 the worst possible result.
Froch is 11/8 to win by KO, TD or DQ and 7/2 to win on points.
