Brit Punters On Froch, Could Upset £3000 Jet Set Bet?
£3K BET ON WARD TO WIN AT 10/1 OVER TWO YEARS AGO
The Super Six finally comes to a close during the early hours of Sunday as Carl Froch takes on Andre Ward. The American is 3/10 favourite to win but the British public are getting behind their home fighter, with over 80% of all bets staked on the fight being on Froch. When the tournament started two years ago, Carl Froch was more fancied than his American counterpart and as the Super Six kicked off in 2009, Carl Froch was the 11/4 second favourite to win, while Ward was 13/2. However, some stunning performances from Ward have seen the tables turn and he is clear favourite to bag the victory.
A Ward victory would mean a monster payout for one far sighted punter who jetted over from the States to stake £3,000 on the American to win the whole competition at 10/1 just five days before it all started. He also backed the former Olympic gold medallist at 7/4 to win his first match against initial favourite, Mikkel Kessler, to the tune of £10,000.
"While everybody in the build up to this fight has been backing Froch to win, we could be hamstrung by a punter who has loyally backed Ward over the years and could take his overall winnings to £47,000," said Hill's spokesman Joe Crilly. "He may have been a big fan before the tournament, but should Ward win, he will be an even bigger one."
