Katsidis Favoured By Punters But Hope He Won’t Burns Himself Out

With Ricky Burns taking on Michael Katsidis on Saturday, William Hill punters have been piling on the Australian with a number of four figure bets having been placed in the last 48 hours. Katsidis, who so efficiently dispatched Kevin Mitchell just over a year ago, is 8/15 favourite to win the bout, while Ricky Burns is 6/4 in what should be a close encounter. The draw is 25/1.

Given his tendency to come out swinging, Katsidis has been well backed by punters to win in rounds 1, 2, 3, 4, and five at 16/1 (one) and 14/1 (two, three, four and five). Shrewd punters have, however latched on to the fact that Burns will become more dangerous the longer the fight goes on and have backed a Burns KO at 17/2

"Katsidids has proven time and time again that he is a more than capable fighter but his style does not lend itself well to 12 rounds and if Burns can withstand the inevitable early barrage, he could well hold the advantage going into the latter stages," said Hill's spokesman Joe Crilly.
