Does Ponting Have To Go To Get Australia Back To Winning Ways?

Australia look seriously out of sorts and following another defeat, William Hill have cut England's price to win the Ashes from 2/1 to 7/4.The hosts have drifted from 4/5 to 8/11 .

The first test kicks off on 25th November and Hills are offering 2/1 that England get off to a winning start, having been 9/4. Ricky Ponting seems unable to get a performance from his boys at the moment and he is 11/8 to not captain Australia in the final test of the Ashes series.

The question on every Australian's lips will now be "when will Australia next win a match?" Australia are odds-on at 8/11 to win the dead rubber ODI against Sri Lanka and 7/2 that their next victory comes in the first test against England. They are 7/1 to fail to win any game until after the Ashes has finished. Andrew Strauss' men are 40/1 to win all five tests having been 50/1 when betting first opened.

"Ricky Ponting's side are really struggling at the moment and England will be more confident than ever of getting a result," said Hill's spokesman Joe Crilly.

Alastair Cook managed just 6 runs against Western Australia as he struggles to shake off his poor form although he is 1/12 to start the first test.
