England Save Face And Patriotic Punters

England managed to salvage some pride on the second day of the Ashes and William Hill have trimmed the odds on them winning the first test to 16/5 from 9/2. It looks likely that England will get a bat during tomorrow's play, and Hills make Andrew Strauss the 10/3 favourite to be the top runscorer, followed by Kevin Pietersen at 7/2. Ian Bell, the hero from the first innings is 6/1 to be the top second innings runscorer.

"England were always going to come out all guns blazing and they have done well to chip into Australia's top order. Things are looking a lot brighter for England and those that kept the faith before the test started," said Hill's spokesman Joe Crilly.
