India win sets up showdown with Aussies
The ICC Cricket World Cup quarter-final line up is now complete and hosts India (3/1) are favourites to the lift the trophy despite facing a tough fixture against Australia on Thursday.
That one certainly looks to be the tie of the round and India are 4/6 to make the semi-finals whilst Australia, who's run of 34 games unbeaten was ended by Pakistan in the final group game, are 6/5 to progress.
Australia will certainly fancy their chances of retaining the trophy if they can get past India and you back them at generous odds of 5/1.
Despite England's inconsistent performances they scraped through to the knockout stages but their odds to win have drifted from 8/1 to 9/1 following the news that they must face Sri Lanka on Saturday for a place in the semi-finals.
"England are by far our biggest liability and we were not sorry to find out that Sri Lanka stand in the way of a semi-final spot!" said Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams
England are 6/4 to progress, whilst Sri Lanka are clear favourites at 8/15.
In the other quarter final ties South Africa and Pakistan are expected to be too strong for West Indies and New Zealand respectively.
8/15 Pakistan, 6/4 West Indies,
4/6 India, 6/5 Australia
1/2 South Africa, 13/8 New Zealand
8/15 Sri Lanka, 6/4 England
England stage of elimination: 8/15 Quarter final, 3/1 Semi-final, 6/1 Runners up, 9/1 Winners
World Cup Winner: 3/1 India, 10/3 South Africa, 4/1 Sri Lanka, 5/1 Australia, 6/1 Pakistan, 9/1 England, 20/1 New Zealand, 20/1 West Indies
