The Ashes third Test - live blog and betting updates
It seems like ages ago that Graeme Swann bowled that beauty to win the 2nd Test for England but here we are in Perth for the 3rd Test of this series.
Australia make a few changes for their team with Hughes, Smith, Johnson and Hilfenhaus coming back in to the team, England just the one enforced change with Chris Tremlett replacing the injured Stuart Broad, James Anderson returns from the UK where he celebrated the birth of his daughter, congratulations Jimmy.
England have won the toss and Andrew Strauss has elected to bowl on what looks like a bouncy track.
The anthems are getting sung now and were moments away from the start of the match.
Australia's openers are Shane Watson (6/5 to score a 50) and Phillip Hughes (5/4), whom Watson replaced during the last Ashes series at the top of the order.
Here we go then, daddy Anderson with the ball for England.
03:31 - couple of looseners from Jimmy to start with, plenty of carry.
03:33 - Watson could be gone! Review straight away but Prior thinks he's got his man.
03:34 - This would be harsh to be given out but we've seen it before with Harris.
03:35 - Watson survives, rightly so, no early wicket this time and the opener continues, he's 3/1 to go on and top score for Australia now.
03:40 - Hughes is out! No doubt about this one and Tremlett has the first wicket for England with an absolute beauty! Mr Ponting will be in next, a lot of pressure on the skipper.
03:43 - Ponting won't have wanted to be at the crease this early with the stress he's under, can the captain respond to his critics? He's 3/1 to top score for his team.
03:52 - A few technical issues there, sorry about that! Ponting gets away with one early doors as Strauss just can't reach his edge.
03:53 - That one held though! Ponting again fails with the bat, Collingwood with a stunning catch and the captain can only score 12.
03:56 - England really know how to put people under pressure don't they? The tourists already look well on top as they try to take an unasailable lead, they're 11/10, the draw 11/4 and Australia 15/8 to keep the series alive
03:59 - So it's Clarke in now with a very attacking field set by Strauss, the vice-captain is 11/8 to score a 50.
04:03 - Clarke gets off the mark, but it almost went to the gully fielder, the Aussie batsmen look nervous out there.
04:05 - That's a bit better from Watson, smashed to the boundary from Tremlett. Evens to get a half-century now.
04:07 - Another one gone! Tremlett has his second wicket as Clarke wafts at one for Prior to smother it from behind, Australia deep in the mire now.
04:08 - Australia's key man Mike Hussey is in now, and my goodness they need him to post a big score again or England will have this one in the bag.
04:11 - England now odds-on for the Test at 5/6, Australia 11/5 and the draw is 7/2.
04:13 - Nasser Hussain is less than happy at the experienced Aussies dismissals.
04:14 - With Tremlett's early wickets he's leaped to 11/8 to be England's top bowler, we've not yet seen Swann who's a 4/1 chance.
04:16 - Tremlett is really looking the part on this Perth wicket.
04:18 - Anderson is given a breather and Finn has a crack now, two big bowlers on for England now.
04:19 - Finn is a 5/1 shot to be top England bowler.
04:21 - A maiden to start with from Finn, he'll be delighted with that.
04:22 - Not too much change to the match betting apart from the draw is now 10/3, looking ahead to England's innings, if Australia are bowled out cheaply again then Trott could be the bet at 4/1 to top score.
04:26 - Two maidens in a row, England are well on top just now and Australia just can't seem to get away.
04:27 - The spread is 74.5 on total session runs (up to lunch), I'd take the 17/20 on the unders.
04:29 - These two need to be in at lunch for Australia to get anything from this, drinks are on now. Aus 2/1, draw 7/2, Eng 5/6.
04:31 - That first hour seemed to fly by, but it must feel like an eternity for Australia at the moment, who are struggling to accelerate.
04:35 - Bumble and Warne are in the commentary box now, wonder if Liz Hurley's name will get a mention?
04:39 - Both batsmen are 7/2 to score 100s, for Hussey they don't seem to be a problem, Watson has struggled to always kick-on once he reaches 50, so he needs a three-figure score.
04:42 - Anderson is back in to the attack now, he's 2/1 to be top England bowler.
04:47 - Watson could be gone (again!) They're going upstairs but Finn looks like he could've got his first wicket.
04:48 - Don't think he's going to get away with it this time, gonner for me.
04:49 - Once again Watson doesn't put a big score on, Haddin will be striding in now, he put on a huge total with Hussey in the first Test and they'll need that again.
04:52 - Well my mistake (or is it Australia's?), Steve Smith has come in to bat, perhaps they wanted him to be in with the more experienced player rather than possibly with Haddin.
04:54 - Smith says he's a batsman who can bowl a bit, he'll have to bat quite a lot if Australia are to get into this one, he's 5/2 to top score.
04:55 - Australia 11/4, draw 4/1, England 4/7.
04:57 - As somebody has pointed out to me, I've been using CET rather than GMT, apologies if that's confusing but that's the time that I'm looking at in the corner of my screen from the office in Gibraltar!
05:00 - That was a nice stroke from Smith, I like the look of this lad and I was surprised that he wasn't picked for the first Test.
05:01 - The quickies are really doing the business for England, but if Swann does get a look in could he prove to be a cracking price at 7/1 top England bowler?
05:07 - Hussey understandably is 5/6 fav for top Aus bat, but when Johnson gets in the 8/1 on him could be value, Smith (5/2) and Haddin (11/4) might have something to say about that but Johnson can certainly bat a bit.
05:16 - Michael Holding is in the commentary box, he did a preview for us saying that he can't see Australia taking 20 wickets in any match this series, were you on his tip? If you are then you'll be pleased by what you're seeing as Australia are 13/5, the draw 4/1 and England odds-on shots at 8/13.
05:21 - Once again it looks like Hussey will have to post a big score to keep Australia in it, he's 8/15 to top score for Australia.
05:23 - We're getting close to lunch and England will be delighted by their morning's work, Collingwood is going to have a bowl now, a massive 50/1 for top England bowler!
05:25 - Athers is saying England's seamers haven't bowled that well, if they start to perform then what are they going to do!
05:30 - Australia wouldn't have wanted Smith and Hussey to be in bat before lunch, but now they'll be desperate for them to be in for the next session as well, definitely England's session though and they're justifiably 4/6 jollies, Aus 12/5 the draw 4/1.
05:35 - So it's 65/4 at lunch and job done as far as England are concerned. Can Australia keep fighting? Hussey is 9/4 to get a 100 while Smith is 7/1 to reach triple figures, they'll need one if not both of those to happen really, 7/4 on Smith reaching 50 might be the better bet though.
05:54 - Our tipster Michael Holding fancied Graeme Swann for top England bowler before the match started, he's not had a sniff yet so has drifted out to 7/1 In-Play, surely they'll give him the ball after lunch?
06:11 - Back after lunch then and Anderson has the ball, the Sky team are saying he's not bowled that well but he's got a wicket at a great economy, perhaps being a bit too harsh on a guy that understandably wanted to fly home and see the birth of his daughter.
06:16 - Wicket! Smith goes fishing and Tremlett has his third wicket of the day.
06:17 - Australia now welcome Haddin to the crease, it's a desperate situation for the Aussies, they're 5/2 to win the match now, draw 5/1, England 8/15.
06:35 - Tremlett is now 1/3 for top England bowler, remember this is England's back-up bowler such is their superiority over Australia at the moment.
06:39 - That was nice from Haddin, they'll need a lot more of those type of shots for Australia to stay competitive, the wicketkeeper is 7/2 for top Australia batsman.
06:40 - There doesn't look like being many runs for England to get past, will this make the likes of Strauss and Cook the safe bets for top England bat? They're both 7/2 to top score in England's innings.
06:44 - A chance gone there for England to run Haddin out, a bad throw could've cost the Three Lions dear.
06:45 - The glovesman is 4/1 to score a century, Hussey is 7/4 to get three figures, surely one of these has to happen for Australia.
06:51 - Another glorious shot from Haddin edges Australia closer to 100, these two have put 30 on, England will need to make sure they don't put too much more on the board.
06:53 - Aus 9/4, draw 5/1, Eng 8/13.
06:54 - Walloped to the boundary by Hussey, that's brought the 100 up.
06:55 - You could've got 4/1 on 'Mr Cricket' top scoring for Australia, he's 1/6 now.
07:02 - Swann has got the ball now, can he strike in his first over as he has done so often before? He's 12/1 for top England bowler.
07:05 - Haddin's tonked Swann for 6! That's much more like as far as Australia are concerned, they're 15/8 now, draw 4/1, England getting bigger at 4/5.
07:08 - Another 50 for Mike Hussey, he's been head and shoulders above his colleagues this series.
07:12 - For the first time in around three hours, England are NOT odds-on to win the match now, Hussey looks to be turning the screw and is developing another partnership with Haddin. Aus 15/8, draw 10/3, Eng Evens.
07:15 - Swann continues, but spin doesn't often win in Perth, even the great Shane Warne couldn't manage a five-for on this ground.
07:16 - England think they've got Hussey! They're going upstairs.
07:17 - England HAVE got Hussey! He was looking in great nick but that man Swann breaks up the partnership to put England back on the front foot, what was I saying about spin on this track!
07:21 - It didn't look like there was much in the pitch for England's tweaker but just like that he's gone from 12/1 to 5/1 for top England bowler, and the tourists are back as odds-on jollies for the match, Aus 12/5, draw 5/1, Eng 8/13.
07:32 - Finn is looking in some pain out there, he's a 7/1 chance for top England bowler, but England would be best letting him go off the pitch for a bit.
07:47 - Haddin still short of his 50, but he's going along at a healthy rate, he's 7/4 to score a century.
07:49 - He's no mug with the bat Johnson, and that cut shot brings him on to 20. Aus 9/4, draw 4/1, Eng 8/11.
07:51 - Hussey and Haddin put on 68, the keeper will need to double that at least in his partnership with Johnson if the Aussies are to get on top.
08:05 - Johnson thought he had a 6 there as he smashed Swann to the boundary, but it just bounced inside the rope for 4, Australia on to 177-6 now, they're 2/1, the draw 4/1, England 4/5.
08:12 - It's been a good fight back from Australia in this second session of the day, Haddin has helped put 110 runs on the board with first Hussey and now an unbeaten 42 with Johnson. It's not changed the match odds, but it will just create a better atmosphere in the Aussie changing room while they have their tea.
08:31 - Back after tea then and Swann will try clean up this partnership.
08:33 - Johnson is looking in good nick out there, he's just 7/4 to score a century.
08:41 - Haddin's gone! He's just played at one that could've been left and that should mean Australia's chance of a decent total has gone. Anderson with the wicket.
08:44 - Harris has at least avoided the ignominy of getting a golden duck as he did twice in the last Test, but can he and Johsnon try get Australia up to a decent total?
08:48 - Aus 9/4, draw 4/1, Eng 4/6.
08:51 - Harris out! Anderson looked fired up and he's just rearranged the burly bowler's furniture! England are absolutely bossing this now.
08:57 - Johnson has been going after England's bowlers from the off and now he's edging towards a 50, you could've got a massive 33/1 on him top scoring for Australia, he's now an 8/11 chance.
09:13 - Mitch has been the man with the bat for Australia, and they'll hope he can boss England with the ball, he's 10/3 top Australia bowler.
09:20 - Siddle and Johnson have put on over 20 now, England could do with nipping this partnership in the bud to keep them below 250.
09:35 - England have gone upstairs, they reckon they've got Siddle trapped leg-before.
09:36 - Looks high to me, Warney reckons he's out.
09:37 - Siddle survives, too close to call that one. England have one review left for the innings. They're 4/6, Aus 9/4, the draw 9/2.
09:39 - Johnson gets a thick edge and it flies behind him to the ropes, he's now the top scorer for the innings.
09:40 - Anderson takes the catch and that's the end of Johnson! The number eight has been punching it all over the park and has done a great job for his country but that should be that now for Australia's innings.
09:54 - These last couple of batsmen are just starting to frustrate England now, at 69-5 it looked like England were going to be completely in control of the game, but Australia have got over 250 now and the Three Lions just need to keep their heads.
10:02 - Hilfenhaus and Siddle have put on over 30, surely Swann can finish them off? Aus 9/4, draw 9/2 Eng 4/6.
10:04 - That's your lot, Swann has done the job, England would've been happy with restricting them to 268 before play started, but it could've been a lot lot better.
10:08 - Australia will have the new ball to attack England with for an hour. Strauss and Cook of course will open the batting for the tourists, they're both 7/2 for top England bat.
10:15 - Some good swing here from Hilfenhaus, he'll hope to prove the selectors wrong for dropping him for the 2nd Test with a few wickets here.
10:18 - Harris sharing the new ball with Hilfy, he's 11/4 top Australia bowler.
10:19 - Almost an early wicket for Australia, Strauss doesn't catch that one but it just falls short of the skipper at slip.
10:21 - Aus 11/4, draw 9/2, Eng 4/7.
10:26 - Looked like a mis-timed shot there from Cook, but he's cleared the ropes with it for England's first 6.
10:30 - He loves it there Cook, another boundary from the opener, is he set for another big score? The spread is 50.5 at the minute, 17/20 he gets over that.
10:33 - Strauss gets his first boundary, tickled down fine leg, he's 10/3 to top score for England.
10:42 - England are ticking along nicely at the start of the innings, they'll want to see out the day without losing a wicket though.
10:47 - Stu has to leave as his baby has turned up at work. Jon Riley takes over.
10:50 - Strauss drives for 4 taking him into double figures.
10:52 - Current partnership 25 runs, 10.0 overs, RR: 2.50 (Strauss 11, Cook 14).
10:56 - Last 6 balls of the day...play it safe lads!
10:59 - Mitchell Johnson bowls a maiden on the last over of the day. England will be delighted with their performance on the first day in Perth.
At the end of day one England trail by 239 runs with 10 wickets remaining in the 1st innings.
