Thomas 12/1 For Yellow Jersey On Start Of 3rd Stage of Tour de France
The first stage of the Tour de France descended into carnage with several crashes impeding the top contenders.
Philippe Gilbert won the race and William Hill make him 11/1 to win the Tour de France. One of the only top riders who did not suffer during the stage was Geraint Thomas and Hills make him 12/1 to be wearing the yellow jersey during the third stage. Alberto Contador is 1.20 behind the leaders at the moment and has slipped in the outright betting to 13/10 having been 1/2 at the start of play. Andy Schleck is now the 6/5 favourite. The closest British contender is Bradley Wiggins at 20/1.
"Contador's hopes of retaining his title took a real hammering today allowing his closest competitor, Andy Schleck to really steal a march," said Hill's spokesman Joe Crilly.
