Barney 10/1 for World Title following William Hill Grand Slam Triumph
William Hill, the sponsors of the Grand Slam of Darts, have cut Raymond Van Barneveld's PDC World title odds from 20/1 to 10/1 following his emotional 16-14 win over fellow Dutchman Michael Van Gerwen. Unbelievably, it was Barney's first major win in almost five years.
Van Gerwen, who punished the bookies with an astonishing four 170 checkouts during the tournament, went into the final as the red hot 2/7 favourite, but it was Barney who prevailed in one of most compelling finals in the history of the event.
‘The 2012 William Hill Grand Slam of Darts will go down as one of the greatest in the history of the tournament,' said Tony Kenny from the sponsors, ‘The two Vans were simply awesome throughout the tournament - and it was a shame there could be only one winner.'
‘Barney's return to form is great for darts - and he now looks like a serious contender for all of the major titles in the PDC.'
