Bull lacks the Power to overhaul Taylor

Phil 'The Power' Taylor faces Terry 'The Bull' Jenkins in the Grand Slam of Darts final.

Taylor is looking to defend the title he won last year in the inaugural running of the self-proclaimed, most controversial darts tournament.

It is no surprise that, despite the presence of BDO players in the tournament, it is an all-PDC final, just like last year.

Admittedly, Jenkins is a shock finalist, as most people would have predicted either world number two, Raymond van Barneveld, or number three, James Wade, would be facing darts legend, Taylor.

Nevertheless, Jenkins has delivered some great performance thus far and is a worthy finalist.

Jenkins dispatched of ‘Barney’ in the quarter finals by the narrowest of margins, and then, in his semi-final knocked out BDO number one Gary Anderson, who had eliminated Wade in the quarters.

Taylor tops the tournament averages at 103.38, while Jenkins is fifth, with an average of 96.63.

However, Jenkins should not be fazed as he has thrown a lower average than his opponent in both the quarter and semi-final, and still won.

It seems likely that checkouts will decide the outcome of the final and Jenkins has a 164 to his name in the tournament, the second highest by any player, and a reason for confidence.

Regardless of this, Taylor looks on course for yet another title but at 1/8 The Power is not value, and a correct score of 18-14 looks far better value at 8/1.

Jenkins may be a good bet to get more 180s than Taylor.

So far in the tournament, Jenkins has thrown 28 180s compared with Taylor’s 20. However, Taylor is 4/6 to score the most in the final, with Jenkins at 13/8 and a tie priced 6/1.
