Newcastle ready to rock as the Premier League comes to Toon
Geordies certainly know how to have a good time - and when the Premier League Darts circus hits Newcastle's Metro Radio Arena tonight, a good time will be had by all.
Over six-thousand fans - bottles of Newcy Brown in hand, dressed in weird and wonderful costumes and chanting the famous theme tune (you know the one) - will be cheering on their favourite players.
You'll be cheering on favourites of a different kind if you take advantage of this special bet. We've taken the four players we think will take the two points, and put them into one fantastic enhanced odds accumulator of 3/1 - just one of a host of specials for the night.
The Matador is still without a win in the Premier League - not the debut he would have wanted. He's been complaining about the travelling backwards and forwards from the Netherlands, which surely must be having an effect on his performances. Therefore, he's the outsider in the betting at 5/1, while a draw looks almost as unlikely at 9/2.
The Machine, on the other hand, is absolutely brimming with confidence, and with every reason. After getting soundly beaten by King in week two, he's claimed sensational back-to-back victories over Van Barneveld and Taylor - a double that paid almost 30/1. No wonder he's now ranked world number two.
As a big odds-on shot of 1/3, James Wade is the first player into the special bet.
Having dropped points in the last two weeks - which he's not used to doing - The Power will be absolutely determined to win this one. He comes into the match on good form too; over the weekend he won both Players Championship events in Germany, beating Adrian Lewis in the finals.
This is the first proper test for The King. He's been in scintillating form in his debut season, winning all his matches with ease, but he's now up against the greatest player the world has ever seen. For that reason only, he's a massive 11/2 to win, or 5/1 to share the spoils.
Phil Taylor, as you might expect, is the big favourite for the match. He's a 2/7 shot to win, and is the second selection in the accumulator.
Hawaii 501 is surely only in the Premier League because of his crowd-pleasing antics - it can't be for his darting ability. He was given an almighty beating last week at the hands of Part, and has also lost heavily to King. His odds of 11/2 would suggest another sound thrashing tonight, while the draw isn't even fancied - that's priced at 5/1.
Barney is here on merit, even though - bizarrely - he has the same record as his opponent in this year's league, and sits above him only on leg difference. Class is permanent though, and the former postman should deliver tonight.
The third big odds-on chance of the night (2/7) is Raymond van Barneveld, and he makes up the penultimate leg of the multiple.
As mentioned above, Darth Maple cruised to victory last week against Mardle, and he now sits in the play-off positions, just a point ahead of the man he'll try beat tonight. The Canadian usually seems to struggle in this format though, which is strange for a man of his capabilities. He's 9/4 to struggle to a win this evening.
The Bull finally managed a result other than a draw last week. Unfortunately for him, it was an admittedly close defeat to Van Barneveld, which leaves him still looking for his first victory of the campaign. He's 4/1 to get another draw this week.
But, as the 4/6 favourite, we think Terry Jenkins will get that elusive victory in Newcastle, so have put him into the enhanced odds acca.
