4/1 for Toffees to leapfrog rivals at Anfield!

Liverpool v Everton

English Premier League

Tuesday 20:00 - live on Sky Sports 1

Match Odds: Liverpool 4/5 Draw 9/4 Everton 4/1

Thanks to Liverpool's Carling Cup Final date at Wembley last month the Premier League weekend has been extended into Tuesday night for the 217th Merseyside Derby. The League Cup holders go into the rescheduled tie as 4/5 favourites, they have a superior league position and home advantage not to mention a squad which has been boosted by more than £100 million worth of investment.

The price that instantly attracts though has to be the 4/1 available for David Moyes' Everton. The Toffeemen are unbeaten in their last seven Premier League games and they have had notable victories over Chelsea, Manchester City and most recently Tottenham Hotspur. That run of form has helped them into ninth spot in the Premier League table and a win on Tuesday night at Anfield would help them leapfrog Liverpool in the standings.

With no English teams represented in the UEFA Champions League the Merseyside Derby has taken the focus of the William Hill Match Winner. Liverpool v Everton has seen more red cards (20) than any other fixture in Premier League history. Eleven of those red cards have come in the last fourteen meetings between the two sides and with league position and pride at stake, the 3/1 (originally 11/4)  enhanced offer could be a value bet that will keep you interested for the full 90 minutes.

Kenny Dalglish will be keen to deliver the three points that the Anfield faithful demand. Capturing silverware has certainly taken the pressure off the Scottish manager, however, his side are on their worst run of league form since 2003. Three defeats in-a-row have all but extinguished their hopes of Champions League football and shockingly if the season were to have started on January 1, Liverpool would be in the relegation zone.

Liverpool's latest defeat to Sunderland will cause many around the club some concern. The Reds were devoid of any creativity and were unable to inject tempo and pace into a lack lustre Premier League tie. Hopefully the same will not be reproduced at Anfield on Tuesday night. There could be a small chance of a stalemate at 8/1 when considering that Stoke are the only side outside of the relegation zone that have scored fewer goals than Liverpool (30) and Everton (28).

Tim Cahill could well be the man to break the deadlock. The Australian hitman may not have been as prolific in 2011-2012, however, he loves the challenge of playing against his club's rivals having scored in three Premier League games at Anfield. 12/1 seems generous for first and he still retains some value at 5/1 about anytime goalscorer.

The quarter-finals of the FA Cup beckon for both these sides. David Moyes' side welcome Sunderland in the early Saturday kick-off four days after meeting the Reds, while Kenny Dalglish's side host Stoke in Sunday's late game. Speculation that this may affect team selection or strategy come Tuesday appear unfounded and we can expect both sides to be well organised. My advice on tips would be to keep it simple in this one. 4/1 about an Everton win is a clear value bet, however, if you feel a trip to Anfield is one step too far for Moyes' Toffees then 11/4 Draw No Bet is where to stick you hard earned cash. The neutral bet of the day is the Match Winner Offer and in Daniel Agger's absence I wouldn't put it past Jamie Carragher to get himself into trouble.
