Celtic Defy The Odds To Qualify
Celtic performed the impossible in the Champions League as they qualified from a group from which they were 5/1 outsiders with William Hill to qualify at the start of the tournament. So unlikely were their chances of progression that the biggest bet placed on that particular outcome was £100 placed in Glasgow.
William Hill now offer 150/1 that Celtic win the Champions League, although their most likely stage of elimination is the last 16, where they are 1/4 to exit the competition. They are 10/1 to be the furthest progressing of the British sides still left in the competition although the accolade of favourite goes to Manchester United who are 4/11 to advance further than their Home Nations counterparts.
"Celtic's performance was fantastic for the club and fantastic for Scottish football" said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.
