A walk in the Park for Chelsea

Roman Abramovich is likely to stick by Andre Villas-Boas, he is a talented manager with a cracking CV. Chelsea are in a season of transition, it is rumoured in the press that AVB does not need to win trophies in his first year.

His prerogative as manager should be to lower the average age of the squad. That does not mean the likes of Lampard and Terry should be disposed of this summer, they are Chelsea through and through. They should make up the core of a new Blues side.

Newcastle are 5/2 to win at home, the draw is 12/5 and a Chelsea win is 21/20. Newcastle have been sensational this season, they were unbeaten in the league until their clash with Man City and Pardew has worked wonders with little resources.

They have got rid of an overrated player in Carroll, trouble in Joe Barton and the highly paid Kevin Nolan. They look a decent price at 5/2 to win against a Chelsea side that cannot lose against Valencia in the Champions League on Tuesday or they will play Europa League football.

The Tyneside club are 13/8 draw no bet and you can back Newcastle or the draw at 7/10. Newcastle are now unbeaten in their last ten Premier League home games. Chelsea have lost four of their last eight away games and the players that started in the midweek loss to Liverpool may be lethargic.

The Magpies have kept just one clean sheet in their last nine Premier League games. Chelsea are incapable of not conceding goals let alone winning matches and with a backline that plays on the half way line, there could be plenty of goals in this clash.

Both teams to score is 8/11 and over 2.5 goals looks a steal at 19/20. Chelsea need the points, they will not sit on the back foot in Tyneside. You can definitely expect goals in this clash!

Only Robin van Persie (31) and Wayne Rooney (19) have netted more league goals in 2011 than Demba Ba (16). He is 13/2 to score the first goal and 15/8 to find the net anytime. He is thriving at St James Park and he could terrorise a ropey and running scared Chelsea defence.

Chelsea may start with Torres but one player that will be definitely be a threat to Newcastle in front of goal is Sturridge. He was given his chance by AVB and he has taken it in style. He is 6/1 to score first and he is still effective in front of goal as a wide man.

Fifth placed Chelsea are already ten points behind the league leaders Man City and they know that nothing less than three points is acceptable, if they want to win the league. Newcastle will be up for the clash and the fans will want the club to win it for their ex midfield star Gary Speed.

However, Chelsea has players missing against Liverpool in midweek, they will play their first team at Newcastle and 23/20 looks generous against a side that is punching above their weight.
