A win would bring glee for Mark McGhee

Motherwell manager Mark McGhee is desperate to see his side move up the SPL before Christmas, after five games without a win has seen them fall perilously close to the relegation zone.

The Steelmen had high aspirations for the season after finishing third in the league last year; however an early UEFA Cup exit and poor league form means ‘Well are just three points above the bottom-placed Hamilton.

On Monday evening Kilmarnock visit Fir Park for what should be a fascinating contest.

Motherwell welcome back David Clarkson following a two-match ban but Paul Quinn drops out with a suspension of his own.

Top scorer John Sutton will be looking to add to his five goals and is priced 13/2 to get his name on the scoresheet first, while Chris Porter is the favourite at 6/1.

The Killies have also been struggling to find consistency and only a win against Dundee United has divided a losing run of seven games.

The biggest problem for Kilmarnock has been finding the net on a regular basis, with top scorers, Craig Bryson, Mehdi Taouil and Jamie Hamill only having six goals between them.

In terms of match betting Motherwell are priced 23/20 to win with 12/5 about Kilmarnock but with both teams having problems the draw at 9/4 may provide the best value.
