Awesome Altrincham Student - Only Correct Punter In The World!
The world is still reeling from Germany's demolition of the World Cup's host nation and the shocking nature of the result is highlighted in the fact that not a single punter out of more than 120,000 who tried managed to predict the correct scoreline with Britain's biggest bookmaker William Hill. 7-1 was a 500/1 shot but not even those lofty odds could tempt any punters to part with their cash, although there was one solitary punter who managed to predict the halftime correct score of 5-0 at 300/1.
The winning punter was a student from Altrincham who wagered just 80p on the halftime result.
"For the price of a tin of beans our student will be living off a slightly inflated budget for the next couple of weeks," said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly. "Not one of our customers managed to predict the correct score in the match - which is the first time in recent World Cup history."
Miroslav Klose broke Ronaldo's World Cup goalscoring record although his fellow countryman Thomas Muller is hot on his heels already. At just 24 years old and with 10 World Cup goals to his name, he is 6/1 to overtake Klose's record (whatever that may be after Sunday).
Germany are 4/6 to win the World Cup with Argentina 5/2 and Holland 4/1.
