Barclays Premier League Opta Facts May 7-8

Manchester City v West Bromwich Albion

Manchester City have won seven and lost none of their last eight Barclays Premier League matches at home.

The Baggies have managed to keep three clean sheets in their last five Premier League games away from the Hawthorns.

West Brom have lost five and won none of their last six Premier League meetings with Manchester City.

Shane Long’s strike in the reverse fixture in October is the only goal WBA have managed against City in their last five meetings.

West Brom have lost five of their last eight league matches on the road (W2 D1).

Roberto Mancini’s side have kept six clean sheets in their last eight at home, conceding just three goals in that time.

In four of the last five meetings between the two teams, a Manchester City striker has scored at least two goals (Edin Dzeko, Sergio Aguero, Carlo Tevez (hat-trick) and Mario Balotelli).

City have scored in their last 48 Premier League home games, the longest current run in the division.

Only Arsenal (14) have picked up more points in the Premier League over the past six games than City (13).

City have played the highest proportion of short passes in the Premier League this season (92%).

Wigan Athletic v Swansea City

No side is currently on a longer winless run in the Barclays Premier League than Swansea City (7; level with Queens Park Rangers).

Only Queens Park Rangers (14) have picked up fewer points at home this season than Wigan Athletic (17).

Seven of Wigan’s 17 home points have been garnered in their last three matches at the DW Stadium.

Since winning the Capital One Cup, Swansea have accrued just six points in the league (W1 D3 L4). Only Reading (5) have managed fewer in that time.

Shaun Maloney has laid on three goals in his last two appearances in the Premier League for Wigan.

No team has been involved in more 0-0 draws this season than Swansea City (6). Wigan are one of two teams (with Manchester United) yet to play out a goalless draw.

Three of Wigan’s last five Premier League goals have been headed.

A win in this game will give Wigan successive league wins for only the third time this season.

Five of Wigan’s last seven Premier League home games have gone over 3.5 goals.

Norwich are the only away team to fail to score away at Wigan so far this season.

Wigan have the lowest saves to shots ratio in the Premier League (61%), meaning almost two in every five shots on target they face end up in the back of the net.

Chelsea v Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur have never won a Barclays Premier League match at Stamford Bridge in 20 visits. No side is currently on a longer run without victory at an opponent’s ground than Spurs against Chelsea.

The Blues have won each of their last six home games in the Premier League.

On only one occasion this season have Tottenham failed to score away from home in the league.

Juan Mata has scored three times in his last two appearances against Tottenham in all competitions.

When Andre Villas-Boas was manager of Chelsea, he masterminded eight victories in 13 Premier League games at Stamford Bridge (62%).

No player has scored more goals away from home this season in the Premier League than Gareth Bale (13).
