Blues coming up, so you better get the party started

Alex McLeish's team should confirm their place in the Premier League with victory over Preston North End, the Lilywhites have an outside chance of reaching the play-offs but could be out of the picture by the time the match kicks off.

City go into the game on fine form, losing just once in their last 11 games and only conceding three times in the last nine, and should have too much for Alan Irvine's side who need to depend on other results just to be in with a shout of making the play-offs.

PNE have struggled for consistency this season, wins away against the likes of promoted Wolves are mixed in with defeats against relegation threatened sides in the form of Southampton and Nottingham Forest, this is part of the reason why they find themselves outside the top six and hoping for other teams to slip up.

Birmingham, who've not suffered a league defeat at St Andrew's this calendar year, are a great price at 5/6 to get the three points they need to secure their return to the top flight at the first time of asking. The draw is a 5/2 shot, whilst the visitors are priced at 12/5 which isn't bad considering Preston have won six out of the last seven meetings between the two sides, but they've only won once on the road since January.

After going 17 games without finding the net Cameron Jerome has re-discovered his goal scoring form with four in his last six games, the Yorkshireman is 9/2 to get the first goal of the evening or 6/5 to notch one at anytime of the game. A good each way bet could be Franck Queudrue, the French defender has scored twice in his last seven games and is available at a massive 33/1 to score the first of the game and the same price to grab the last of the 90 minutes.

Jon Parkin has bagged seven goals in his last 13 outings and scored an injury-time winner the last time the two sides met, he's a tempting 8/1 chance to get the first goal of the match and 11/4 just to score at any point of the game. Ex Liverpool star Neil Mellor has scored three goals in his last two matches and is 15/2 to keep that run going with the first of the evening and 9/4 to strike at anytime in the match.
