Both sides set for frustration at the City Ground
An intriguing encounter which pits the in-form Nottingham Forest against top of the table Newcastle with the sides seemingly inseparable as they are both 6/4 in the betting.
With such a close looking game punters may look and think a draw is the most likely outcome at 21/10 and with Newcastle having drawn their last two games and while Forest may be weaker on paper, they have home advantage which could cover any slight disadvantages they have, levelling the playing field.
As many may think in such a close run game, goals may be scarce with Newcastle having kept a clean sheet in seven of their last ten league matches, while Forest have only conceded once in their last three league games meaning a clean sheet to either side could be a fair bet with Forest 21/10 and The Magpies 15/8 to shut out the opposition.
Three of the last four meetings between these two at the City Ground have ended level also adding more fuel to the theory behind the draw and 0-0 or 1-1 are sure to be popular at 7/1 and 5/1 respectively.
The Toon Army are not top for no reason though and have a host of threats including Marlon Harewood, Andrew Carroll and Peter Lovenkrands, (11/2, 6/1 and 6/1 respectively to open the scoring) who all should thrive at this level and if they are to nick it could be by the odd goal bringing 1-0 at 6/1 in to play.
Forest have Rob Earnshaw out injured but Dexter Blackstock has looked dangerous (6/1 to score first), as has Nathan Tyson (13/2) but a good bets looks to be chancing Polish midfielder Radoslaw Majewski to open the scoring at a generous 14/1 or 11/2 to score anytime as he has already bagged three this term.
Other markets to consider look to be total match goals with under two coming in at 11/5 while over two at 10/11 and it is the unders that make the most appeal, while for a double result draw/draw at 10/3 is bound to be popular but Nottingham Forest/draw at 14/1 could be worth a speculative bet.
Newcastle, under the guidance of Chris Hughton have so far looked every bit like title challengers and they will be keen to get back to winning ways after two draws, but with Steven Taylor and Fabio Coloccini looking doubtful starters and with Forest in such good form, a draw may well be the best they can hope for.
Draw - 21/10
Radoslaw Majewski to score first - 14/1
