Bundesliga Opta Facts - 13-15 February

FC Bayern München v Hamburger SV

  • This will be the 100th Bundesliga meeting between Bayern and Hamburg. Only the northern derby between HSV and Bremen has taken place more often in the top flight (101 times).
  • FCB have scored 216 BL goals against HSV - no other side has scored as many goals against a particular opponent. Bayern have also celebrated 58 wins against Hamburg - they have only recorded more victories against Stuttgart (59 - also a BL record).
  • HSV haven't won any of their last 12 competitive matches against Bayern (D3, L9). The northern club have conceded an average of 3.3 goals per game in that timeframe.
  • Bayern's lead over second-placed Wolfsburg remains eight points - FCB have never thrown away as big an advantage as that this late in a Bundesliga campaign before.
  • Hamburg have won back-to-back BL games for the first time since April 2013. They last celebrated three victories in a row over four years ago (December 2010 until January 2011).
  • Arjen Robben has been involved in 15 goals in his 16 BL games this season (12 goals + 3 assists). He has found the back of the net eight times in his last nine top-flight matches.
  • David Alaba is set for his 100th BL appearance for Bayern. The Austrian's goal directly from a free kick to wrap up a 2-0 win in Stuttgart means that FCB have already scored as many goals directly from free kicks this season as they did in the whole of the last campaign (3).
  • Robert Lewandowski is on the brink of his 150th BL appearance. The striker was named Poland's Footballer of the Year for the fourth time in a row last Sunday.
  • The suspended Jerome Boateng played 75 BL games for HSV between 2007 and 2010, while Tom Starke first appeared in the German top flight in 2003/04 while at Hamburg.
  • Marcell Jansen, who played 17 BL games for FCB in 2007/08, has scored twice for HSV in the space of four days - as many goals as he netted in his previous two BL campaigns combined.
  • Ivica Olic joined Bayern from HSV in 2009/10 and made 55 appearances for the record champions in three BL seasons (13 goals).
  • Nicolai Müller is on the brink of his 100th BL game. The former Mainz man has had a hand in 36 goals in his 99 top-flight appearances to date (22 goals + 14 assists).

SV Werder Bremen v FC Augsburg

  • FCA have lost just one of their seven BL meetings with Bremen. Augsburg have only recorded more top-flight wins against HSV (5) than they have against Werder (4, the same as against Stuttgart).
  • Bremen's BL loss percentage against Augsburg (57%) is higher than it is against any other side, while Werder's point-per-game average against FCA (0.7) also isn't as bad against any other club.
  • SVW are the best team in the second half of the season and are the only BL side yet to drop a point in 2015 - the last time Werder started this well after the winter break was in their 2003/04 double-winning campaign.
  • Werder have won each of their last four games, climbing 10 places in the table in four matchdays - Bremen were still bottom after matchday 16.
  • Augsburg have won seven of their last 10 BL games (D1, L2) and have taken 10 of a possible 12 points from their last four matches. FCA have opened up an eight-point gap to the best-placed team outside a European qualifying spot (7th).
  • FCA have needed just six goals for their 12 away points and sit seventh in the away table, despite scoring the second fewest goals on the road (HSV: 5).
  • In a table representing only the 11 matchdays played since Viktor Skripnik took over at Bremen, Werder would be in a Champions League qualifying spot of fourth having collected 22 of a possible 33 points. Augsburg would be fifth (also 22 points in that timeframe).
  • Davie Selke has been involved in seven goals in his last eight BL games (4 goals + 3 assists) - no other player under 21 has recorded as many goals (5) or scorer-points (goals + assists = 8 scorer-points) in the Bundesliga this season as Selke.
  • Raul Bobadilla has scored in each of his last four BL games - a first for him in the top flight. He has now equalled Augsburg's club record (held by Tobias Werner).
  • Zlatko Junuzovic scored his fourth goal directly from a free kick this season in the game against Leverkusen - a league-high. The only other Werder player to do the same within a BL season since detailed statistics started being collected (2004/05) is Diego (4 in 2008/09).

Hertha BSC v Sport-Club Freiburg

  • Hertha have collected an average of 1.68 points per game against Freiburg - against no other current BL side do Hertha have a better record.
  • However, Freiburg are unbeaten in five BL games against Hertha (W1, D4). Berlin's last win against SCF came away from home in February 2010 (3-0).
  • On top of that, SCF have only brought more Bundesliga points back from Gelsenkirchen on average (1.27/game) than they have from Berlin (1.22/game).
  • Berlin have lost each of their last two home games without registering a goal. The last time Hertha suffered at least three home defeats on the spin was in March/April 2012 (a run of 4 successive losses at home).
  • SCF's 4-1 win over Frankfurt on matchday 18 remains their only victory in their last nine BL games (D4, L4). Their last two fixtures have ended in defeat - Freiburg last lost three top-flight matches in a row in December 2013.
  • Christian Streich's side have picked up just seven of their 18 points this season on the road. Only Paderborn have also accrued as few away points.
  • Hertha have lost their last five BL games on a Sunday, picking up just two points from nine Sunday matches since a 2-0 win in Braunschweig at the end of 2013. SCF are currently unbeaten in four Sunday fixtures in the top flight (W2, D2).
  • The two worst tackling sides in the league go head-to-head in this fixture in the form on Berlin (47.3% of challenges won) and Freiburg (47.6%).
  • Pal Dardai celebrated a successful start as Hertha manager with a 2-0 win in Mainz. The last Berlin coach to begin with back-to-back league wins was Markus Babbel early in the 2010/11 season, although that was in the second division. The last Hertha manager to do it in the Bundesliga was Falko Götz in February 2002.
  • However, Berlin haven't won back-to-back Bundesliga games since December 2013.
  • A Hertha player has been sent off for two bookable offences in each of their last two BL games. Captain Fabian Lustenberger is now missing against Freiburg, a player Berlin have collected just 0.8 points per game without this season (1.1 points per game with him).

Borussia Dortmund v 1. FSV Mainz 05

  • Thanks to their 2-0 home win in the meeting earlier this season, Mainz ended a run of six straight defeats and eight games without a win against Dortmund (D1, L7).
  • Mainz haven't won any of their last eight away games in Dortmund (D4, L4). Borussia have beaten FSV in each of their last three meetings at Signal-Iduna-Park.
  • Dortmund's 3-0 win in Freiburg was their first victory since early December (1-0 against Hoffenheim). They now need to improve their home form: BVB have lost more matches on home soil (4) than they've won (3) this season.
  • The 05ers have lost only six of their first 20 league games this season, a new club record. However, they have also won just four - the only time they have recorded fewer wins at this stage was in their 2006/07 relegation campaign (3). FSV have drawn the most games in the league (10).
  • BVB have collected just 19 points from their first 20 league fixtures in 2014/15. They have only had fewer points at this stage in 1971/72 (15, converted to the 3-points-per-win system), a season that ended in relegation, and in 1984/85 (17 when converted).
  • Mainz have won just one of their last 12 BL games (5-0 against Paderborn on matchday 18) and are without an away victory since their 3-1 win in Berlin on matchday 3 (D5, L3). The last time FSV waited longer for three points on the road was in 2011/12 (12 games).
  • Dortmund boss Jürgen Klopp made a total of 325 second-division appearances for Mainz between 1990 and 2001 (52 goals). He then managed FSV until summer 2008, leading the 05ers to the Bundesliga for the first time in 2004.
  • Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had a hand in all three of BVB's goals in Freiburg (2 goals + 1 assist) and has now been involved in 11 of their last 16 BL goals (7 goals + 4 assists).
  • Mainz will be without first-choice keeper Loris Karius following his red card against Hertha.
  • Lukasz Piszczek is set for his 200th BL games, while Neven Subotic could make his 175th top-flight appearance in Dortmund colours. Sebastian Kehl turns 35 on the day of the match.
  • Neven Subotic (2006-2008 at Mainz), Erik Durm (2010-2012 at Mainz) and Jonas Hofmann (currently on loan at FSV from Dortmund) all come up against their former club.

Eintracht Frankfurt v FC Schalke 04

  • Schalke have suffered just one defeat against Eintracht in their 17 BL meetings since October 2005 (1-0 loss in Frankfurt in April 2013 - otherwise W10, D6).
  • Three players were sent off in the 2-2 draw between these sides on matchday 4 this season - Schalke's Kevin-Prince Boateng (2 yellows) and Julian Draxler (straight red), as well as Frankfurt's Slobodan Medojevic (2 yellows).
  • Frankfurt haven't won any of their last six BL games (D4, L2) - their longest winless streak since autumn 2013 (10 matches in a row without a victory between September and December).
  • FC Schalke 04 are unbeaten in five BL games (W3, D2) - the Royal Blues sit in a direct Champions League qualifying spot for the first time this season.
  • There have been 79 goals scored in Frankfurt's 20 BL matches in 2014/15 (an average of 4 goals per game), a league-high by far.
  • S04 have had just 36% possession in their three games in 2015 - the lowest amount in the league.
  • With 41 goals conceded, Eintracht have the worst defence in the league together with Werder Bremen.
  • Stefan Aigner has scored in five of his last six BL matches and has already netted more goals this season (6 in 16 games) than in the whole of the last campaign (4 in 28 games).
  • Top BL goalscorer Alexander Meier (14 goals) hasn't won any of his 13 top-flight games against Schalke (D4, L9 - all with Frankfurt).
  • Thomas Schaaf is set for his 500th Bundesliga games as a manager! He has celebrated 229 top-flight wins in his coaching career so far (D113, L157), collecting exactly 800 points.

Borussia Mönchengladbach v 1. FC Köln

  • Gladbach are unbeaten in eight BL games against Köln (W5, D3) and have kept a clean sheet in each of their last three meetings. No side has ever recorded four clean sheets in a row in this match-up.
  • Against no other Bundesliga side have Borussia celebrated as many wins as they have against the Billy Goats (44). The Foals' tally of 166 goals scored is also a club high.
  • With 16 points collected from 10 games, Köln are the second best away team in the league - only Bayern have picked up more points on the road (21). The Billy Goats have only had more points after 10 away games on three occasions, most recently in 1989/90 (18, converted to the 3-points-per-win system).
  • Köln have collected twice as many points on the road (16) as they have at home (8). The only other time they have picked up eight points more from their first 10 away games than in their first 10 home matches was in 2009/10 - the difference has never been higher.
  • Gladbach have won nine of their last 14 home games (D4, L1), including their last three.
  • The Billy Goats are the only team yet to concede in the second half of the season. They didn't concede on any of the first four matchdays at the start of the season.
  • Peter Stöger's men have played out six 0-0 draws this season, meaning they are one goalless game away from equalling the BL record: The last time a side recorded six stalemates within one campaign was 1. FC Köln in 2009/10.
  • Köln have won just one of their last 14 league games on carnival weekend (D5, L8) - a 2-1 victory away to FC Bayern in February 2009.
  • Lucien Favre will mark four years in charge of Gladbach on the day of the match. He has collected 1.60 points per game on average during his tenure. He saved Borussia from relegation in 2010/11 (16th), and they have finished in the top eight in each season since (2011/12: 4th, 2012/13: 8th, 2013/14: 6th).
  • Favre has won five of his six BL games against Köln (1 draw). Against no other side has he played as many top-flight matches without ever losing.
  • Köln could suffer the 600th BL defeat in their club history, in Gladbach of all places. Meanwhile, Matthias Lehmann is set to make his 100th appearance in the German top flight.

Hannover 96 v SC Paderborn

  • Paderborn sat top of the table for the first and only time in their young Bundesliga history following their 2-0 win on matchday 4 in the meeting earlier this season.
  • Hannover 96 are set to play their 450th Bundesliga home game and could record their 200th top-flight win on home soil.
  • 96 haven't won any of their last six games against sides below them in the table (D3, L3).
  • Paderborn and Hannover have each picked up just one point in the second half of the season (the same as Stuttgart) - only Hoffenheim are still without one.
  • Hannover have won just one of their last nine games (D3, L5) - a 2-0 victory over Augsburg in their last home match before Christmas. The Lower Saxony club are without a win in four games since then (D2, L2).
  • SCP haven't won any of their last 10 BL games (D5, L5). The last time they took all three points was on matchday 10 against Hertha (3-1 win). No other BL side are on a longer winless run at present.
  • Andre Breitenreiter's side have gone four games or almost seven hours (419 minutes) without scoring in the top flight. Only HSV have suffered a longer goal drought in the BL this season (5 games or 507 minutes).
  • Paderborn are unbeaten in Sunday matches in the Bundesliga this season (W2, D2).
  • With just 13 points to their name, Paderborn are the worst side in the first half of games. SCP would sit sixth in a table that represented the second half of matches only (29 points).
  • Moritz Stoppelkamp scored a goal from 82 metres in Paderborn's 2-0 win in the meeting earlier this season, the furthest out a goal has ever been scored from in BL history. He failed to register a single goal in 44 BL games for Hannover between 2010 and 2012.
  • SCP manager Andre Breitenreiter was born in Langenhagen in the Hannover district and played for 96's youth and first team between 1986 and 1994. He scored 10 goals in 72 second-division games (including 22 in the 2. BL Nord) and won the 1992 DFB Cup with 96.

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim v VfB Stuttgart

  • Hoffenheim failed to record a win against VfB in their first five BL home games against them (D2, L3). TSG finally broke their duck last season with a 4-1 victory on home soil.
  • The game in Sinsheim sees the worst side since the winter break (3 defeats) host the team sitting bottom of the overall Bundesliga table.
  • TSG have lost their first three games after the winter break for the second time after 2009/10. They have never suffered more than three straight defeats under Markus Gisdol.
  • Stuttgart have failed to score in four successive games for the first time in their BL history. Their tally of 20 goals after 20 matches is a new record low for VfB in the top flight.
  • Hoffenheim have scored as many goals in the first half of matches as VfB have in total (20). Stuttgart have only struck five times before the interval (league low together with SCP).
  • VfB have collected 13 of their 18 points on the road and are still unbeaten in away games under Stevens this season (W2, D2). Stuttgart have the league's second-best attack away from home (16 goals, the same as Wolfsburg and Frankfurt) after FC Bayern (17).
  • Eight players in the Hoffenheim squad used to play their trade at VfB.
  • Vedad Ibisevic has scored five goals in four BL games against his former club (at TSG between 2007 and 2011). The Bosnian is currently on a 1182 minute goal drought though.
  • Markus Gisdol joined Stuttgart in 2005 and spent two years there coaching the U17s. He left VfB in summer 2007 to become manager of SG Sonnenhof-Großaspach.
  • Alexandru has had a hand in the most Stuttgart goals since the start of the 2013/14 season (8 goals + 13 assists), but has started just two of the 18 matches that Stevens has been in charge for.
  • Gisdol was assistant to Huub Stevens during his spell in charge there between September 2011 and December 2012 (Gisdol was also sacked).

Bayer 04 Leverkusen v VfL Wolfsburg

  • Bayer 04 are unbeaten in 14 BL home games (W6, D8) and are one of three teams (along with Wolfsburg and Bayern) yet to lose on home soil this season (W4, D6). Their last league defeat in Leverkusen came in March 2014 (3-2 against Hoffenheim).
  • VfL are unbeaten in eight BL games (W5, D3). It's the Wolves' longest unbeaten run since between October and December 2013 (9 games) and also the longest in the league at present.
  • 41 points from 20 games is Wolfsburg's best ever haul in their BL history. They had 33 points at this stage last season and in their 2008/09 title-winning campaign. VfL had never been second after 20 matches before.
  • With 41 goals scored, Wolfsburg have the second-best attack in the league after Bayern (45). The Wolves' have found the back of the net in each of their last 15 BL games (a total of 33 times, averaging 2.2 goals per game), the longest streak in the league at present.
  • 12 of the 22 goals Leverkusen have conceded in the BL this season, including nine of the last 10, have come from set pieces. Davie Selke's goal in Bremen was the first Bayer 04 had let in from open play since matchday 8.
  • Kevin De Bruyne has been involved in 19 goals in 20 BL games this season (8 goals + 11 assists), the most in the league. The Belgian has already scored five times and set up one goal in the three matches in 2015.
