  • Marco Reus, Andre Schürrle and Kevin Großkreutz will all be vying to make their 100th appearance in the Bundesliga this weekend.

  • Gladbach have tasted defeat at the hands of Nürnberg more than any side, being on the wrong end of a result on 21 occasions in the Bundesliga.

  • The last meeting between these sides was on March 21st 1997, when Stuttgart won 4-0 at Düsseldorf.
  • For only the second time in their Bundesliga history (after 2010/11), Stuttgart lost the opening two games of a season. When considering their goal difference (1-7), it is their worst start ever.

  • Stuttgart have won six of their last eight BL home games (D1, L1), losing only against Wolfsburg (0-1).

  • Christian Gentner could make his 200th BL appearance in this game, while Tunay Torun could make his 50th.
  • Stuttgart must make do without Vedad Ibisevic, who is suspended. Düsseldorf, on the other hand, will welcome back captain Andreas Lambertz, who returns from a suspension.

Hannover 96 - Werder Bremen

  • While Werder have failed to qualify for international competitions for two consecutive seasons, Hannover have succeeded in doing so for the first time in their club history.
  • Hannover have lost none of their first seven competitive games (just like last season) - if they avoid a defeat against Bremen, they would set a new club record in their BL history.

  • Last season, Hannover were the only team in German professional football to remain unbeaten in the league at home (W10, D7). Overall, they are unbeaten in 19 home games, with their last loss coming on MD32 of 2010/11 versus Gladbach (0-1).
  • Spanning the seasons, Werder have been waiting for a BL away win for six games (D1, L5). They have managed to keep a clean sheet in only one of their last 27 league games on foreign soil - 0-0 at Lautern in January 2012.

  • Current Hannover manager Mirko Slomka lost his job at Schalke following a 1-5 defeat at Bremen in April 2008.
  • Mohammed Abdellaoue has scored four goals in three BL games versus Werder (among those his only hat-trick), making Bremen his favourite opponent as a goalscorer.

Greuther Fürth - FC Schalke 04

  • Fürth and Schalke will meet for the first time ever in a competitive game.

  • Hoffenheim manager Markus Babbel has a points average of only 1.06 in 16 BL games with the team, equaling Marco Pezzaiuoli's club record. Pezzaiuoli lost his job after 17 BL games at the end of the 2010/11 season.

Eintracht Frankfurt - Hamburger SV

  • Frankfurt are one of Hamburg's two favourite opponents in the league - they have won 41 games (of 87 overall) against them (just like versus Stuttgart), the most against any team.
  • For the fifth time ever (and the first since 2004/05), Hamburg have lost their opening two BL games of a season and only in 1973/74 did they have a worse goal difference (0-5) than now (0-3).
  • Frankfurt, on the other hand, won their opening two BL games for the fifth time ever (and the first time since 1999/00, when they ended the season ranked 14th). The only time they had a better goal difference than now (6-1) was in 1991/92 (7-1), when they finished third.
  • Just one of 12 newly-promoted teams in BL history that have won their opening two games ended up being relegated at the end of that season - Köln in 2005/06 (finished 17th).
  • Spanning the seasons, Hamburg have failed to score in four consecutive BL games, equaling a club record. Their minutes record of 473 without a goal (April 2000) could also be broken at Frankfurt (currently they have 391 minutes).
  • Current Frankfurt boss Armin Veh won his first two BL games as Hamburg manager in 2010/11 but started to face criticism in late October after the team lost 2-5 versus Frankfurt in round 2 of the German Cup. In mid-March 2011, Veh was sacked after a 0-6 defeat at Munich.

  • Frankfurt's Alexander Meier joined Hamburg's youth setup at age 12. In 2001, he made his professional debut for Hamburg's rivals St. Pauli, for which he played on a loan from Hamburg.
