Bundesliga Opta Facts - 27 February - 1 March

FC Bayern München v 1.FC Köln

  • FC Bayern have won their last three meetings with Köln, conceding just one goal in the process. The meeting earlier this season ended in a 2-0 victory for FCB courtesy of a Mario Götze strike and a Daniel Halfar own-goal.
  • The record champions have won each of their last 20 BL games against promoted sides. It's been almost four and a half years since FCB failed to collect all three points against a newly-promoted club: A 2-0 loss in Kaiserslautern in August 2010.
  • Bayern haven't lost a BL game after going in front in four years, winning 107 of 115 matches in which they took the lead (eight draws). The last time they were beaten despite going ahead was against Köln (3-2 loss from 2-0 up in February 2011).
  • FCB have scored 14 goals in their last two games against Hamburg and Paderborn - the last time a side netted so many goals in two consecutive BL games was in March 1984, when Bayern themselves brushed aside Offenbach (9-0) and then Bochum (5-1).
  • Köln are the second-best away team in the league this season: The Billy Goats have secured five of their six wins on the road, also scoring 15 of their 20 BL goals this season away from home.
  • FC Bayern have kept a clean sheet in 16 of their 22 BL games this season and have let in a league-low nine goals, while Köln have the joint-best defensive record in 2015 (two goals conceded, the same as Gladbach).
  • Köln (258) and Bayern (251) have committed the fewest fouls - the Munich club have been shown the fewest yellow cards (18) and the Billy Goats are yet to have a player sent off.
  • Left backs Juan Bernat and Jonas Hector have played in every game this season but have only conceded eight and 11 fouls respectively..
  • Arjen Robben had a hand in four goals in the game against Paderborn, something he hadn't done in the BL for almost three years. The Dutchman has now been involved in 21 goals this season - a league high.
  • Mitchell Weiser scored his first BL goal in the game against SCP (his 9th appearance) and now faces his former club, who he celebrated his Bundesliga debut with three years ago at 17 years, 10 months and four days old - Köln's youngest player in the top flight to date.

Borussia Dortmund v FC Schalke 04

  • This will be the 146th Ruhr derby between Borussia Dortmund and FC Schalke 04 (only including competitive matches). BVB are on the brink of their 50th competitive win against the Royal Blues (D38, L58).
  • Dortmund have won just one of their last seven home matches against S04 (2-0 in November 2011). They have recorded three draws and three defeats in the other six games.
  • Schalke are on the brink of their 400th away defeat in the BL. They have recorded 205 wins, 186 draws and 399 losses in their 790 matches on the road to date. Only Frankfurt (411 times), Kaiserslautern (409) and Bremen (401) have lost more often away from home.
  • BVB have secured three straight BL wins for the first time since March/April 2014 (a run of four back then). The only other teams to have won each of their last three top-flight games are league leaders Bayern and second-placed Wolfsburg.
  • Borussia have scored 10 goals in their last three matches, as many as in their previous 14 matchdays combined.
  • Dortmund have recorded five defeats and just one win (1-0 against Gladbach on matchday 11) following their Champions League games this season.
  • BVB's tally of six goals conceded from corners is a league high this season. Both goals they shipped in the 2-1 loss to Schalke earlier this season came from corner kicks. Only Wolfsburg (seven) have scored more goals from corners than S04 (six).
  • Marco Reus has scored in each of the last three league games (plus one assist) - finding the net in four successive matches would be a first for him. Reus has been involved in nine goals in 12 BL games this season (six goals + three assists). Five of his six BL goals have come on the road.
  • Borussia have collected an average of 1.8 points per game in their nine BL matches without Mats Hummels this season. That figure drops to just 0.7 in the 13 games featuring the centre-back. The last matchday saw him spend 90 minutes on the bench for the first time in 2014/15.
  • Adrian Ramos has lost each of his seven Bundesliga games against Schalke. No other player in BL history has played the Royal Blues as often without picking up a single point. Ramos also has the same record against FC Bayern.

Hannover 96 v VfB Stuttgart

  • Stuttgart haven't lost any of their last four games against Hannover (W2, D2). The overall head-to-head record between these two sides is also in VfB's favour (W24, D9, L18).
  • However, the Lower Saxony club haven't lost any of their last seven home meetings with VfB (W3, D4).
  • This match sees the only two sides still winless since the winter break go head-to-head. With just one point to their name, Stuttgart sit bottom of a table including only the second half of the season, with 96 only just above them (two points).
  • Hannover (D3, L3) and Stuttgart (D2, L4) are both without a win in their last six games - no other side in the league has been waiting as long for a victory.
  • 96 haven't won any of their last eight matches against sides below them in the table (D4, L4). The last time they beat a lower-ranked side was in early November (2-0 in Berlin).
  • The Lower Saxony club could celebrate their 200th home win in the top flight this weekend. They have also recorded 131 draws and 120 defeats from their 450 BL home matches so far.
  • Stuttgart haven't scored from open play in any of their last six games - they last did so in the 1-0 win over HSV on matchday 16.
  • Bottom side Stuttgart have collected 13 of their 18 points on the road and are in an impressive sixth place in the away-games only table.
  • With just 18 points after 22 matchdays, VfB are having their worst season BL history. Converted to the three-points-per-win system, they even had one point more to their name at this stage of the 1974/75 campaign, which ultimately saw them relegated.
  • Hannover manager Tayfun Korkut was VfB's U19s coach in 2011/12. There are three of his former players in the current Stuttgart first-team squad in the form of Antonio Rüdiger, Robin Yalcin and back-up keeper Odisseas Vlachodimos.

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim v 1.FSV Mainz 05

  • Mainz have lost just one of their 11 BL games against Hoffenheim (W6, D4). Against no other top-flight side (that they have played more than six times) have FSV lost as few matches or recorded as high a points-per-game average against (2.0).
  • The 05ers haven't lost any of their five matches away in Hoffenheim (W3, D2).
  • Martin Schmidt managed to do something that Klopp, Tuchel and Hjulmand all failed to do, namely win his first BL game as Mainz manager. FSV secured their first comeback victory of the season in their 3-1 triumph over Frankfurt.
  • Hoffenheim have been seventh since matchday 15 and Gisdol's side were in the top six after 10 of the first 11 matchdays. However, they have yet to record back-to-back wins this season.
  • Mainz are without a win in their last nine away fixtures (D5, L9). Their last victory on the road came courtesy of a 3-1 triumph in Berlin on matchday 3. The last time FSV went longer without winning on the road was between August 2011 and March 2012 (12 games).
  • Mainz's Shinji Okazaki is without a goal in seven BL games. He last scored in a 2-1 loss in Hamburg on matchday 14. He has only gone on a seven-match goalless streak once before in FSV colours - between August and October 2013.
  • Yunus Malli (four goals + one assist) and Pablo De Blasis (one goal + three assists) have been the main threats in the Mainz attack since the winter break, already having a hand in more goals than they did in the first half of the season (Malli 2, De Blasis 0).
  • Hoffenheim striker Adam Szalai joined Mainz from Real Madrid's youth setup in January 2010 and scored 21 goals in 79 BL games for the 05ers. After a one-year spell at Schalke, the Hungary international signed for TSG in the summer of 2014.
  • Eugen Polanski joined then relegation candidates Hoffenheim from Europa League hopefuls Mainz in January 2013. The Pole made 87 BL appearances for FSV (four goals + nine assists).
  • Mainz could record their 100th BL win in the game against TSG in what would be their 295th top-flight game (W99, D82, L113).

Hertha BSC v FC Augsburg

  • Augsburg are still unbeaten after five BL meetings with Hertha BSC (W2, D3). Berlin are the only side that FCA have played more than twice in the top-tier without losing.
  • Hertha have found the back of the net just twice against Augsburg in the Bundesliga. Against no other team have Berlin scored as few goals (at least three meetings required).
  • Berlin have lost five of their last six BL games, only beating Mainz 2-0 on matchday 20 in that run. They have scored three goals while conceding 12 in that time.
  • The capital club have also lost five of their last six home matches (including the last three); their only goal in that timeframe came in the 1-0 win over Dortmund.
  • Hertha haven't scored in any of their last three matches on home soil and could equal their club record from their 1990/91 relegation season in the meeting with Augsburg.
  • Augsburg have gone three games without winning for the first time since March 2014 (D2, L1) - their last victory was a 1-0 triumph over BVB on matchday 19.
  • FCA have picked up the most points in the league from losing positions (13).
  • This match sees the league's two most clinical sides from clear-cut chances go head-to-head. Hertha are the best with a 67.9% conversion rate, with FCA following in second (57.9%).
  • Augsburg are on the brink of scoring the 150th BL goal in their history (currently on 148).
  • Marwin Hitz's equaliser, which earned FCA a 2-2 draw against Leverkusen, was just the third goal scored by a goalkeeper in BL history that didn't come from a penalty. Only Jens Lehmann (1997 for Schalke) and Frank Rost (2002) had achieved that feat before him.
  • Christoph Janker joined Augsburg from Berlin in the winter break. Sebastian Langkamp (2011-13), Jens Hegeler (2009-10), Marcel Ndjeng (2009-12) and Hajime Hosogai (2011-12) all previously played for FCA.
  • Thomas Kraft could make his 100th BL appearance in the game against Augsburg (so far 87 for Hertha, 12 for Bayern). Peter Pekarik is set to play his 50th BL match for Hertha.

Bayer 04 Leverkusen v Sport-Club Freiburg

  • Bayer 04 have come out on top in six of their last eight home games against Freiburg (D1, L1). However, SCF have only won away at Schalke and Nürnberg more often in the BL (five times each) than they have in Leverkusen (four).
  • Freiburg have failed to score in just one of their 15 away games against Leverkusen. Werder Bremen are the only other side SCF have also scored 23 away goals against - they haven't netted more against any other team.
  • With 33 points on the board after 22 games, Leverkusen are having their worst season since 2006/07. Back then, Bayer 04 had 29 points at this stage, but they still ended the campaign in fifth place and secured UEFA Cup qualification.
  • Having shared the spoils on 10 occasions in 2014/15 - a league high together with Mainz - Freiburg have already equalled their record tally of draws for one Bundesliga season.
  • Bayer 04 have failed to win any of their last four BL home games for the first time in almost a year (D3, L1). Their run was ended in the fifth match back then with a 2-1 win over Hertha.
  • 13 of SCF's 24 goals this season have come from dead balls - proportionally speaking, a league high (54%). Jonathan Schmid has already provided five assists from set pieces - only Zlatko Junuzovic has assisted more goals from set plays in 2014/15 (7).
  • Freiburg ended a four-game winless run on the road (D2, L2) thanks to their 2-0 victory in Berlin. The last time SCF won back-to-back away matches was in November 2013 against (the eventually relegated sides) Nürnberg and Braunschweig.
  • Leverkusen have conceded a stoppage-time goal in each of their last two BL games, costing them three points in total. During their 2-2 draw in Augsburg, Bayer 04 became the third BL team to concede to a goalkeeper from open play (goalscorer: Marwin Hitz).
  • SCF are without the suspended Marc Torrejon following his red card last week. Freiburg and Leverkusen have had the most players sent off in 2014/15 together with Schalke (four each).
  • Ömer Toprak played 30 second-division games (four goals) as well as 38 BL matches for SCF and was part of the squad that achieved promotion to the top flight in 2009. He is now set for his 100th BL appearance in Leverkusen colours.

Eintracht Frankfurt v Hamburger SV

  • HSV enjoy a healthy head-to-head record from their 91 BL meetings with Frankfurt (W41, D22, L28). However, Eintracht haven't lost any of the last five encounters (W3, D2).
  • Eintracht secured a 2-1 victory in the meeting earlier this season, with substitute Lucas Piazon scoring a stunning goal directly from a free kick in the 90th minute.
  • Schaaf's side have won just one of their last eight BL games (D4, L3) - a 1-0 victory over Schalke in their last home match (goalscorer: Lucas Piazon).
  • Hamburg suffered their heaviest ever Bundesliga defeat in their last away game - they were crushed 8-0 by Bayern.
  • Frankfurt have already dropped 18 points from winning positions this season (including in the recent 3-1 loss to Mainz) - a league high.
  • Although Eintracht haven't won any of their last five games (D2, L3), their recent home record looks a little better: The Eagles are unbeaten in their last five matches on home soil, picking up an impressive 11 points (W3, D2).
  • The Eagles are the only side to have two players suspended on matchday 23: Carlos Zambrano was shown a straight red on the last matchday, while Haris Seferovic picked up his fifth yellow card of the season.
  • Stefan Aigner has scored six goals in the last eight BL games. He found the back of the net just once in his previous 16 appearances.
  • Dennis Diekmeier is set to make his 100th BL appearance for Hamburger SV.
  • Thomas Schaaf has won more than half of his 29 BL meetings with HSV as a manager (15, the same as against Hertha) - against no other club has he won more often.
  • Dietmar Beiersdorfer and Thomas Schaaf were both Werder Bremen players between 1992 and 1995 and collected a number of honours during their time there, including the Bundesliga title in 1993 and the 1994 DFB Cup.

Borussia Mönchengladbach v SC Paderborn

  • Gladbach have won two of their three competitive meetings with Paderborn, with the other game ending in a draw. That share of the spoils (1-1) was in Borussia's only second division home game against SCP, in December 2007.
  • Favre's side have won each of their last four BL home games, their longest run since the first half of 2013/14 when they secured eight successive wins on home soil.
  • Paderborn have won just one of their last 12 BL games (2-1 in Hannover on matchday 21), otherwise recording five draws and six defeats. The newcomers are currently 15th in the table, their worst ever position in the top-tier.
  • Gladbach haven't won any of their nine BL matches in 2014/15 following a Europa League game (D7, L2) and have scored just four goals in those nine fixtures.
  • The Foals' winless run after European duty is even longer when you include previous seasons (11 games - D8, L3). Gladbach's last BL victory following European action came against Mainz 05 on 9th December 2012 (2-0 at home).
  • With just 18 goals conceded, Gladbach have the second-best defence in the league behind Bayern (nine). The only time Borussia have let in fewer goals at this stage was in 2011/12 (13), a campaign in which they ended in fourth place.
  • Gladbach have scored just four goals in their five BL games in 2015, but have picked up an impressive 10 points (W3, D1, L1). Their total of just two goals conceded since the winter break is a joint-league best together with Köln.
  • SCP have scored just two goals in their five BL matches in 2015 - a league low. However, their tally of 15 goals shipped in that timeframe is a league high.
  • Lukas Rupp joined SCP from Gladbach at the start of the season, returning to the club he had a loan spell with in the second half of 2011/12. Rupp made 40 competitive appearances for Borussia (34 Bundesliga, 3 Europa League, 3 DFB Cup) between 2011 and 2014.
  • Elias Kachunga played in the Foals' youth setup and also made his first two BL appearances in Borussia colours (2010/11). The 22-year-old scored Paderborn's first ever top-flight goal and currently leads the club's BL goalscoring charts this season with five goals to his name.

SV Werder Bremen v VfL Wolfsburg

  • Only Wolfsburg (10 games) are currently enjoying a longer unbeaten run than Bremen (6). This match is also a meeting between the two best teams since the winter break (both W4, D1).
  • Werder haven't won any of their last six games against Wolfsburg (D1, L5), losing each of their last four meetings.
  • No side in the league has conceded more goals than Werder (44, the same as Frankfurt).
  • Bremen's last five goals have all come from set pieces. Zlatko Junuzovic has set up three of them, scoring the other two himself directly from free kicks. Werder's tally of 17 goals from dead balls is a league high - Wolfsburg are second with 14.
  • Bas Dost is the first player in BL history to score nine goals in the first five games of a calendar year. Dost has scored seven goals from his last seven shots in the Bundesliga.
  • Fin Bartels picked up his fifth yellow card of the season and is suspended against Wolfsburg.
  • Wolfsburg's Kevin De Bruyne was on loan at SVW in 2012/13, before returning to Chelsea at the end of the season. The Belgium international was involved in 19 goals in 33 league games for Werder (10 goals + nine assists).
  • VfL signed centre back Naldo from Bremen in summer 2012. The Brazilian made 173 BL appearances for Werder, scoring 22 goals.
  • Cedric Makiadi played 48 BL games for Wolfsburg (four goals). On the final day of the 2005/06 season, he scored in a 2-2 draw with Kaiserslautern, a result that saw VfL avoid relegation.
  • Before joining VfL last summer, Aaron Hunt spent 13 years at Werder. He had a hand in 13 goals in the 2013/14 season, the most at Bremen in that campaign.
  • VfL bought Koen Casteels from Hoffenheim in the winter break and immediately loaned him out to Werder Bremen.
