Hamburger SV v Sport-Club Freiburg

  • Hamburg and Freiburg have faced each other 31 times in the history of the Bundesliga, with SCF only winning seven of those games (D11, L13).
  • The home team hasn't won any of the last eight BL meetings between these two sides. There have been five away victories in that timeframe (3 for Freiburg, 2 for HSV), with three matches ending in a draw.
  • Freiburg manager Christian Streich has lost just one of his six BL games against HSV (W2, D3). In fact, he has taken seven points from three away trips to Hamburg with SCF.
  • HSV scored more goals in their wins against Augsburg (3-2) and in Mainz (2-1) than they did on the previous 10 matchdays combined (4). They also won back-to-back games for the first time since matchdays 19 and 20 (3-0 in Paderborn and 2-1 against Hannover).
  • SCF haven't won any of their last four BL games (D2, L2). Their last victory came on matchday 27, when they beat Köln 1-0.
  • Hamburg have let in 2,499 goals in 1,761 Bundesliga games and therefore could be the first top-flight side to reach the 2,500 mark in the goals conceded department.
  • Nils Petersen has scored Freiburg's last three BL goals and has been involved in each of the last four (3 goals + 1 assist). The striker has averaged a top-flight goal every 66 minutes for his new club, while HSV have found the net every 133 minutes on average this season.
  • No side has benefitted from own goals as often as HSV (3 times). Only Lasogga and van der Vaart have scored more goals for Hamburg (4 each) than opposition players this term.
  • This match sees the worst-tackling side since the winter break, Hamburg (46.0% of challenges won), take on the team with the worst tackling record overall this season, Freiburg (47.7%).
  • The last time Freiburg lost away at Hamburg, a 2-0 defeat in January 2010, Bruno Labbadia was HSV's manager.
  • Freiburg's Bundesliga status had always been secured on matchday 32 at the latest with Streich in charge, but that is no longer possible this season.

Borussia Mönchengladbach v Bayer 04 Leverkusen

  • Borussia haven't won any of their last 22 BL home games against Bayer 04 (D16, L6) - the longest ever winless run for a home side in Bundesliga history. Gladbach last beat Leverkusen on home soil in February 1989, winning 2-0.
  • Gladbach (11 games) and Leverkusen (10) are on the longest unbeaten runs in the league at present - four straight games without loss is currently the best record for any other BL side.
  • Favre's men have won each of their last eight Bundesliga home games, keeping five clean sheets in the process - it's the best home run in the league at present. The last time Borussia recorded eight consecutive victories on home soil was between August and December 2013.
  • The Foals are top of the 2015 table, having collected 33 points since the winter break. They have only had as many points to their name 14 matches into the second half of the season once before - in 1973/74 (converted to the 3-points-per-win system).
  • Bayer 04 kept their 15th clean sheet of the campaign in their 2-0 win over Bayern last weekend - a new season record for the club.
  • Schmidt's side have conceded just three goals in their last nine league matches, a league low - they let in as many as nine goals in the three games prior to this run.
  • Hakan Calhanoglu scored his fifth BL goal directly from a free kick this term during the Bayern game - a new season record in the top flight since details statistics started being collected in 2004/05.
  • Leverkusen haven't lost any of the 17 competitive matches that captain Simon Rolfes has started this season (W12, D5). Their last defeat with him in the starting line-up was a 2-1 BL loss away to HSV on 4th April 2014.
  • Karim Bellarabi is suspended for Bayer 04 after picking up his fifth yellow card of the campaign. He has been involved in the most Leverkusen goals in the BL this term (11 goals + 6 assists) and has taken the most shots in the league (100).
  • Christoph Kramer is a Leverkusen youth product and is on loan at Borussia until the end of the season. He joined Gladbach in 2013 without a single minute of Bundesliga football under his belt but is set to return to Bayer 04 as a World Champion.

FC Bayern München v FC Augsburg

  • Bayern have won six of their seven BL meetings with Augsburg, conceding a total of just three goals. Their only defeat to FCA came 13 months ago (1-0 away), when they had already wrapped up the Bundesliga title.
  • FCB remained without a win in their three league games immediately after securing the title in 2013/14 (2 defeats). Following last week's 2-0 loss to Leverkusen, Bayern now face Augsburg, who handed them their first league defeat of the last campaign.
  • The Munich club are the best home side in the league (40 points), while only Frankfurt have picked up fewer away points (10) than Augsburg (12, the same as 3 other teams). FCA could suffer six consecutive defeats on the road for the first time in their Bundesliga history.
  • This match sees the sides with the two best tackle-success rates in the league go head-to-head (FCB: 53.0%; FCA: 52.3%).
  • The 2-0 loss in Leverkusen was just Pep Guardiola's fifth defeat in his 65th BL game. They have always come after the winter break (2 in 2013/14, 3 in 2014/15) - three have even been after Bayern have already had the title wrapped up.
  • Bayern have already equalled the record of 21 clean sheets in a BL season (set by FCB in 2012/13). The record for the fewest goals conceded in a campaign (18) could still be broken - Guardiola's side have let in 15 goals so far.
  • Robert Lewandowski has scored eight goals in seven BL games against FCA - the Pole has only netted more top-flight goals against Freiburg (10) and Hannover (9).
  • Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, loaned out to Augsburg from FCB in the winter break, has made 17 of his 30 BL appearances in Bayern colours. Markus Feulner, an U19 German Champion with FCB in 2001 together with Philipp Lahm, won the double with Bayern in 2002/03.
  • Markus Weinzierl, who was a Bayern player between 1995 and 1999 (though never made a first-team appearance), will be in the dugout for the 100th time in the BL this weekend.
  • Matthias Sammer and Stefan Reuter played together at Dortmund between 1993 and 1998 (German Champions in 1995 and 1996, UCL winners in 1997), while Reuter played under manager Sammer at BVB from 2000 to 2004 (German Champions in 2002).

Eintracht Frankfurt v TSG 1899 Hoffenheim

  • This will be the 12th Bundesliga meeting between Eintracht Frankfurt and 1899 Hoffenheim. TSG have the much better head-to-head record (W6, D3, L2).
  • Eintracht have just a six-point cushion over 17th place. Hoffenheim are currently two points adrift of sixth-placed Augsburg.
  • Frankfurt are without a win in six league games (D2, L4). The last time they claimed all three points was on matchday 25 courtesy of a 4-0 win over Paderborn.
  • However, the Eagles are unbeaten in their last nine home games (W5, D4) - their last defeat on home soil came on matchday 11, when they were beaten 4-0 by Bayern. The last time they had a home run like this was between February and November 2000 (15 games unbeaten).
  • Eintracht have failed to find the net in each of their four games since top scorer Alex Meier got injured. The last time they went longer without scoring was between February and March 2013 - a run of five matches back then.
  • Frankfurt have the league's leakiest defence. The Eagles have conceded 60 goals in 31 BL outings this term, an average of 1.9 goals shipped per game.
  • Hoffenheim have already let in 28 goals before the break - a league-high. They have even let in as many as 15 goals in the 15 minutes prior to half time alone - also a league-high.
  • The Eagles have already dropped 23 points from winning positions - a league-high. Their tally of five defeats suffered despite taking the lead is also the highest in the division.
  • TSG, on the other hand, rarely pick up points after going behind. Only HSV (1) have collected fewer points from losing positions than Hoffenheim (2).
  • Hoffenheim have failed to record back-to-back victories in the Bundesliga this season. The last time they managed to do so within a single campaign was in March 2014.
  • Pirmin Schwegler moved from Frankfurt to Hoffenheim in summer 2014. The Swiss midfielder made a total of 101 Bundesliga appearances for the Eagles (6 goals).

Borussia Dortmund v Hertha BSC

  • BVB have won just one of their last six home games against Berlin (D2, L3) - their last two have ended in 2-1 defeats.
  • A goal from former Dortmund striker Julian Schieber was enough to hand Hertha a 1-0 win in the meeting earlier this season, a result that saw Borussia slip to 16th in the table.
  • Jürgen Klopp's side have won four of their last six home matches (D1, L1), including each of the last two (2-0 against Frankfurt, 3-0 against Paderborn). Borussia haven't recorded three consecutive BL home victories at any stage this season.
  • Hertha BSC have failed to win any of their last four games for the first time under Pal Dardai (2 draws and most recently 2 defeats).
  • The capital club have taken the fewest shots in the league by far (282), while BVB have produced the second-most shots (515). However, Berlin have the best clear-cut-chance-conversion rate in the division (57.1%).
  • Borussia Dortmund have finished in the top six in each of their previous BL campaigns under Jürgen Klopp (since 2008/09). BVB can get a maximum of 49 points this term - they had always collected at least 59 under Klopp before this season.
  • Hertha have had the least possession in the league (39.7%).
  • Henrikh Mkhitaryan has had a hand in three of BVB's last six league goals (1 goal + 2 assists). He had previously been involved in just one of Dortmund's 35 BL goals this term (1 goal scored), while all of the goals he's had a hand in have come since the winter break.
  • Valentin Stocker has scored three of Hertha's last four goals. The Switzerland international had failed to score in any of his previous 18 BL appearances.
  • Adrian Ramos joined Dortmund from Berlin in summer 2014, but has scored just two goals in 18 league games for BVB. He has only featured for 66 minutes in the second half of the season. He scored 16 goals and set up a further five for Hertha last term.
  • Sebastian Kehl, who will retire at the end of the season, made his first BL appearance in BVB colours in a meeting with Hertha - a 3-1 home win in January 2002.

Hannover 96 v SV Werder Bremen

  • Bremen have won 28 of their 53 BL meetings with Hannover, losing just 11 times. Werder have also put 121 BL goals past the Lower Saxony club, an average of 2.3 per game.
  • Hannover have won three of their last four home games against Werder, with their last defeat to SVW in front of their own fans a 2-1 loss in late March 2014.
  • 96 are in a direct relegation spot for the first time since matchday 32 in 2009/10. Hannover won their final two games back then and saved themselves with a 15th-place finish.
  • The Lower Saxony club are without a win in 15 league games (D7, L8) - their longest winless run since returning to the top flight in 2002. The only time Hannover have gone longer without recording a victory within a single campaign was in their 1985/86 relegation season (17 games).
  • Hannover are the only professional team in Germany yet to win a league game in 2015. The only other time they have failed to record a win in any of their first 14 fixtures after the winter break was in 1985/86 - they didn't take all three points in any of their final three matches back then either.
  • Just like last year, 96 headed to a training camp in Marienfeld during the week. Hannover went on to win four of their remaining five games last season and stayed up.
  • Bremen have conceded 37 goals in 15 away matches (2.5 per game on average) - a league high. SVW have kept just one clean sheet in their last 20 BL matches on the road (1-0 win in Freiburg on matchday 24).
  • Werder are the only Bundesliga side to have scored more goals from set pieces (24) than from open play (23). Each of their last five goals have come from dead balls.
  • Davie Selke, who will join RB Leipzig at the end of the season, has scored four of Bremen's last seven goals and has had a hand in 11 goals in his last 19 league games (8 goals + 3 assists).
  • Lars Stindl has been involved in five goals in his last six BL appearances (4 goals + 1 assist); he's available again following his yellow card suspension.
  • Michael Frontzeck hasn't won any of his last 14 home games as a BL coach (D5, L9), even losing each of the last six.

VfB Stuttgart v 1. FSV Mainz 05

  • Mainz are unbeaten in their last five BL meetings with Stuttgart (W3, D2). VfB's last win in this fixture was over three years ago: They beat FSV 4-1 at home on matchday 29 of the 2011/12 season, back on 7th April 2012.
  • Never before in their Bundesliga history have VfB had as few points or wins on the board at this stage of the season as they do currently; 27 points and six wins after 31 games.
  • The 05ers are just five points adrift of seventh place, which could suffice for Europa League qualification, and a comfortable seven points clear of 16th - a win in Stuttgart would be enough for them to secure their Bundesliga status.
  • Stuttgart haven't won any of their last nine matches on a Saturday evening (D3, L6) - their last victory in that timeslot came in February 2011 courtesy of a 3-2 win in Gladbach.
  • The side sitting bottom of the table after matchday 31 has suffered direct relegation in each season since the three-points-per-win system was introduced.
  • VfB have squandered five points from winning positions over the last two matchdays (2-2 draw with Freiburg, 3-2 loss away to Schalke).
  • Georg Niedermeier gifted Schalke two goals in VfB's 3-2 loss last weekend. Stuttgart have now made five mistakes resulting in goals being conceded during the second half of the season - a league-high (together with Bremen and Hamburg).
  • Shinji Okazaki has scored almost three times as many goals in his 62 BL games for Mainz (27) as he did in his 63 top-flight appearances for VfB Stuttgart (10).
  • No other BL player has been involved in as many goals as Daniel Ginczek over the last six matchdays (6 goals + 2 assists). The last matchday saw him set up two goals in one game for the first time in his BL career.
  • Mainz have recorded as many wins in their 10 games under new manager Martin Schmidt as they did in 21 matches under his predecessor Kasper Hjulmand (4 each).
  • Huub Stevens has collected just 18 points from his 19 BL matches during his current spell as VfB coach - an average of 0.95 per game. That makes this his worst ever tenure as a Bundesliga manager.

1. FC Köln v FC Schalke 04

  • Köln have lost six of their last eight Bundesliga meetings with Schalke - they did win 2-1 in the meeting in Gelsenkirchen earlier this season though, while the other match in that timeframe also ended in a 2-1 victory for the Billy Goats at home in May 2011.
  • The Rhineland club have won 33 of the 77 BL clashes between the two sides, with Schalke winning just 26 (18 draws) - Köln have only recorded more top-flight victories against Stuttgart (34). 25 of their 33 wins over the Royal Blues have come at home.
  • Köln (36 points) have a six-point advantage over 16th and 17th (Freiburg and Hannover respectively), so victory this weekend would mean they can more or less start planning for another year of top-flight football.
  • After previously going six straight games without securing a victory (D4, L2), the Royal Blues got back to winning ways on matchday 31 (3-2). S04 were able to secure three vital points in the race for Europa League qualification.
  • Köln are unbeaten in eight home games ever since losing 2-1 to Augsburg in early December, although they have won just twice during that run. The last time the Billy Goats went nine straight BL home matches without losing was in 1991/92 (13 games).
  • S04 haven't won any of their last seven away games (D4, L3), with their last victory on the road coming in Paderborn on matchday 15 (2-1). The last time Schalke went longer than seven BL outings without an away win was between May 1993 and February 1994 (11 games across multiple seasons).
  • The Billy Goats played out their ninth 0-0 of the season on the last matchday in Augsburg, adding to their BL record. Köln's next stalemate would be their 100th in the top flight.
  • Schalke's top scorer this season Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (9 BL goals, the same as Choupo-Moting) ended his record 13-match BL goal drought with a brace against Stuttgart but the Hunter also picked up his fifth yellow this term and so is suspended.
  • Anthony Ujah has had a hand in 13 of Köln's 30 league goals this season (10 goals + 3 assists). Only Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (49%) and Kevin De Bruyne (45%) have been involved in a bigger share of their side's BL goals than Ujah (43%).
  • Roman Neustädter (149 BL games), Christian Fuchs (99 BL games for S04) and Tranquillo Barnetta (199 BL starts) could all make landmark appearances.

SC Paderborn 07 v VfL Wolfsburg

  • The clash in Wolfsburg earlier this season was the first Bundesliga meeting between the two clubs. That game back in December ended in a 1-1 draw.
  • After collecting just two points from their last three BL games, Wolfsburg's once nailed-on runner-up spot is in danger, not to mention their chances of direct qualification for the Champions League group phase.
  • Paderborn have already conceded 33 goals in the second half of the season - no other side has let in more than 28. They have shipped a total of 59 goals this season, the joint-second most in the top flight together with Bremen - only Frankfurt have conceded more (60).
  • 22 of Paderborn's 29 goals this season have come in the second half of games - proportionally speaking (76%), a league-high by far.
  • SCP are unbeaten in their last three BL home games (W1, D2). However, their 2-1 triumph over Augsburg on matchday 28 remains Paderborn's only victory in their last nine matches on home soil (D4, L4).
  • Thanks to his two assists on matchday 31, Kevin De Bruyne has set a new record for assists provided within a Bundesliga season (19) - the previous record was 18, set by Zvjezdan Misimovic in 2008/09.
  • After going 876 competitive minutes without a goal, VfL striker Bas Dost finally ended his drought in the meeting with Hannover. 12 of the Dutchman's 14 BL goals this season have come in 2015 - that makes him the top scorer in this calendar year.
  • Dieter Hecking played for TuS Paderborn-Neuhaus between 1994 and 1996 (Regionalliga back then). The now VfL coach, who was part of 1. FC Paderborn's youth setup was named in Paderborn's XI of the century in 2007.
  • SCP manager Andre Breitenreiter made 24 BL appearances for VfL Wolfsburg between 1998 and late 1999 - he only scored one goal during that timeframe though.
  • Paderborn's Stefan Kutschke, Jens Wemmer (reserves), Florian Hartherz (youth) and Mahir Saglik all used to play for VfL. Saglik even won the Bundesliga title with the Wolves in 2008/09 (8 appearances, 1 goal).
