  • Bayern have only collected more wins and scored more goals in the Bundesliga against Hamburger SV (58 wins, 216 goals) than they have against VfB Stuttgart (57 wins, 189 goals).
  • FCB have won their last 11 competitive matches against VfB, scoring 33 goals in the process. Stuttgart's last victory over the record champions came on 27th March 2010 (2-1 league win in the Allianz Arena).
  • FC Bayern won both Bundesliga meetings with VfB last season courtesy of last-minute goals (2-1 away thanks to Thiago's overhead kick in the 93rd minute, 1-0 at home through Pizarro's 90th-minute strike).
  • VfB are without a win in their last 11 away games - only HSV have been waiting longer for a victory on the road (12 games). Stuttgart have collected just four points in that timeframe. Their last away win was a 3-1 victory in Freiburg on 10th November 2013.
  • Bayern are unbeaten in their last 41 Bundesliga home games on a Saturday afternoon (15:30 CET kick-off), collecting 121 of a possible 123 points. Their last home defeat in that timeslot was a 2-1 loss to Mainz in September 2010.
  • Bayern have only kept one clean sheet in their last 11 competitive games in their own stadium, during a 1-0 win over Stuttgart on matchday 34 last season.
  • Philipp Lahm (53 BL games, 2003-05) and Holger Badstuber (2000-02 in the youth department) used to wear VfB colours. Stuttgart's Georg Niedermeier (1995-2009) came through Bayern's youth setup.
  • Following reunification, Matthias Sammer spent two years at VfB (1990-92), making 63 BL appearances and winning the league title in 1992. Sammer was also manager of the first team in 2004/05.
  • Fredi Bobic is without a win against Bayern in 34 competitive games as a player and sporting director (D10, L24).
  • Thomas Müller celebrates his 25th birthday on the day of the game. Bayern's honorary president Franz Beckenbauer turned 69 two days prior to the match.
  • Antonio Rüdiger could make his 50th BL appearance (2 goals) in the game against Bayern.

Borussia Dortmund - Sport-Club Freiburg

  • Freiburg have lost their last eight games against Dortmund, currently their longest losing streak against any Bundesliga side. In their history, they have only lost more consecutive games against a particular team once (12 straight defeats to Bayern from 2001-11).
  • SCF have won just one of their 15 away games at BVB, a 2-0 victory on 21st October 2001 thanks to goals from Soumaila Coulibaly and current Dortmund player Sebastian Kehl. Freiburg have collected just five points from their 15 games in Dortmund.
  • Freiburg's last game in Dortmund around one year ago ended in a 5-0 loss. SCF have conceded a total of 17 goals in their last four away games against BVB (4.25 per game).
  • Dortmund have won 10 of their last 13 competitive matches (D1, L2). However, their first BL home game of the season ended in a 2-0 defeat to Leverkusen.
  • BVB have conceded exactly two goals in five of their last six BL games, with their 4-0 win over Hertha on matchday 34 last season the exception.
  • Freiburg have been waiting five BL matches for a win (D2, L3). Their last top-flight victory came on matchday 31 in the 2013/14 campaign (4-2 against Gladbach).
  • SCF have failed to score on the opening two Bundesliga matchdays for the first time since 1995/96. Back then, they scored in their third game during a 3-1 loss in Stuttgart.
  • Two of BVB's three goals so far this season have come from set pieces. Last season, Dortmund netted 34 goals from set plays, a record since Opta started collecting this statistic in 2004.
  • Jürgen Klopp has won 11 of his 12 Bundesliga games against Freiburg (one defeat) - Nürnberg are the only other side he has recorded as many BL wins against. Meanwhile, BVB are the only side that Christian Streich has lost all five of his BL games against.
  • After two years at Manchester United (38 Premier League games, 6 goals), Shinji Kagawa returned to Dortmund at the end of August. His last BL appearance came on 5th May 2012 against SCF (4-0 win), when Dortmund were presented with the league trophy.
  • After nine years (2005-14) and 70 BL games for Freiburg (2 goals), Matthias Ginter moved to Dortmund in the summer. The 20-year-old became a Germany international while at SCF and earned a spot in Joachim Löw's 2014 World Cup winning squad.

Eintracht Frankfurt - FC Augsburg

  • Frankfurt have only won one of their four Bundesliga games against Augsburg. Since securing victory in their first top-flight meeting (4-2 at home on 17th November 2012), the Eagles have collected just one point (D1, L2).
  • However, FCA are the only Bundesliga team (aside from Paderborn) that Frankfurt have never lost to at home (W1, D1).
  • Eintracht are unbeaten in competitive matches so far this season (W2, D1), while Augsburg are still without a win (three defeats).
  • During 2013/14, Frankfurt were never placed as high in the table as they are currently (5th), while Augsburg were never bottom of the pile last season as they are at the moment.
  • Weinzierl's side are the only Bundesliga team without a single point. On top of that, only Hertha BSC (6) have conceded more goals than FCA this season (5).
  • It's a battle between currently the most experienced manager in the Bundesliga (Thomas Schaaf, 481 BL games) and the youngest (Markus Weinzierl, 39 years old).
  • Schaaf is without a win against Augsburg as a BL manager (D2, L2 with Bremen). However, Werder did beat them 2-0 in the 2009/10 DFB Cup semi-final, before losing 4-0 in the final to FC Bayern.
  • Halil Altintop made 49 BL appearances for Frankfurt between January 2010 and summer 2011 (3 goals, 4 assists), before leaving following their relegation in 2011. The Turk has only lost once in 11 BL games against his former club (W6, D4).
  • New signing Abdul Rahman Baba has slotted in brilliantly at FCA and with two assists to his name (both against Dortmund). He is the league's top assist provider together with Leverkusen's Calhanoglu. The youngster had a hand in a BL goal for the first time in his 22nd top-flight appearance.
  • Shawn Parker scored his first BL goal in his second game and it came against Eintracht Frankfurt - during a 3-1 away win for Mainz in November 2012.
  • New signing Haris Seferovic is Eintracht's top scorer, netting two of Frankfurt's four goals in competitive games - as many as the whole Augsburg squad.

Borussia Mönchengladbach - FC Schalke 04

  • Gladbach won both of their league meetings with Schalke last season - the last time that happened was in 1992/93. In fact, the Royal Blues have lost six of their last seven competitive games in Mönchengladbach (one win).
  • Victory would see Borussia equal a record - the Foals have recorded 25 BL home wins against Schalke (the same as against Kaiserslautern). They have only secured more against Bremen (26).
  • While Gladbach are unbeaten in their first five competitive matches (W3, D2), Schalke are yet to secure a competitive win (D1, L2).
  • Schalke have only taken 20 shots over the first two matchdays - only Hannover (19) and Frankfurt (18) have had fewer.
  • S04 have converted their two clear-cut chances though and are the only side that haven't wasted one. Gladbach have already squandered four clear-cut chances - the third most in the league.
  • Branimir Hrgota has already scored seven goals in competitive games this season. However, he is without a goal in 25 Bundesliga matches.
  • Roman Neustädter joined Schalke from Gladbach in summer 2012. He made 59 BL appearances for the Foals (one goal, three assists). He has played 65 top-flight games so far for the Royal Blues (five goals, seven assists).

  • Lucien Favre's first game in the Gladbach dugout was a 2-1 win against Schalke 04 in February 2011. With 116 games under his belt, he is their longest-serving manager since Bernd Krauss, who was in charge of 141 matches for the Foals between 1992 and 1996.

Hannover 96 - Hamburger SV

  • Hamburg are without a win in their last six Bundesliga games in Hannover and have won just one of their 12 games there since the Lower Saxony club were promoted back to the top flight in 2002 (D4, L7) - a 1-0 victory in August 2007.
  • Hannover won 2-1 at home in the last meeting between the clubs (matchday 30) and took 31 shots - a record amount for 96 since Opta started collecting detailed statistics.
  • 96 are unbeaten in their last seven Bundesliga games, collecting 17 of a possible 21 points in that timeframe (W5, D2). Interestingly, that run began on matchday 30 last season with a 2-1 win over HSV.

  • New HSV signing Nicolai Müller made his Bundesliga debut against Hannover 96, being subbed on for Mainz in a 1-1 away draw on matchday 4 in 2011/12. He has scored four times against 96 in four meetings since then, only scoring against Stuttgart more often (five times).
  • Lewis Holtby is set for his 100th Bundesliga game and scored his last goal in Germany's top flight against Hannover (in Schalke's 5-4 win in January 2013). He has had a hand in five goals in his last two games against 96 (two goals, three assists).
  • New signing Joselu has scored three of 96's five competitive goals this season.
  • Mirko Slomka is set to face his former club for the second time. He was Hannover's manager from January 2010 until December 2013 and led them to the Europa League twice.
  • Rene Adler had to pick the ball out of his net three times against Paderborn - he conceded three goals or more in 12 Bundesliga games last season.

Hertha BSC - FSV Mainz 05

  • It's the 13th meeting between the two clubs in the Bundesliga - half so far (6) have ended in a draw. Hertha have recorded four wins, Mainz two. There has only been one goalless draw, on matchday 10 in the 2011/12 season.
  • Alongside the 0-0 draw in 2011/12, there has only been one other meeting where one of the sides has failed to score - Hertha beat Mainz 3-0 away from home in February 2005. Both teams have scored at least once in every other meeting.
  • Hertha are unbeaten in their last five league games against Mainz (W2, D3). Their last Bundesliga defeat to the 05ers was almost exactly five years ago to the day, on 12th September 2009 (2-1 away loss).

  • Mainz have collected just one of a possible 15 points on the road lately, meaning they have lost four of their last five away games.
  • New FSV manager Kasper Hjulmand won his first competitive game in charge at the club against Asteras Tripolis in the Europa League qualifiers (1-0 at home). He is without a win in four competitive games since then however.
  • New signing Julian Schieber has scored four of Hertha's last five competitive goals and leads the Bundesliga's goalscoring charts with three goals. He only scored three Bundesliga goals in two years at BVB.
  • Sami Allagui, who begins his second spell at Mainz, was Hertha's second top scorer last season behind Adrian Ramos. He scored nine goals in 29 Bundesliga games for the capital club in 2013/14. He scored 14 goals in 47 top-flight games for FSV between 2010 and 2012.

  • Hoffenheim have lost just one of their last 11 home games (4-2 to Mainz), are unbeaten in their last five home matches (W4, D1) and have conceded just two goals in those five games.
  • The Wolves have only had a worse start to a BL season once before. They hadn't collected a single point after two matchdays in 2010/11. Wolfsburg ended that campaign in 15th.
  • VfL have won six and drawn four of their last 12 Bundesliga games, otherwise recording narrow 2-1 away defeats to Borussia Dortmund and FC Bayern.
  • Wolfsburg have allowed the most shots on target (14), Hoffenheim the fewest (3). However, VfL have fired the most shots on target in the league (15).

  • Thanks to his goal in the 1-1 draw in Bremen, Roberto Firmino has now been involved in 15 goals in 19 BL games this calendar year (9 goals, 6 assists). Only Marco Reus has played a hand in more goals in 2014 (18).
  • Luiz Gustavo made 72 Bundesliga appearances (2 goals) for Hoffenheim, his first professional club in Germany. Patrick Ochs was on loan at TSG from Wolfsburg in 2012/13 (12 games, 0 goals).
  • Wolfsburg manager Dieter Hecking celebrates a milestone the day before the game - he turns 50. His birthday falls on the same day as the 69th anniversary of the founding of VfL Wolfsburg.

Bayer 04 Leverkusen - SV Werder Bremen

  • Since the 2009 cup final (1-0 to Werder), Bremen have one just one of their 10 meetings with Bayer 04 (D5, L4).
  • Leverkusen, on the other hand, have won four of their last six games against SVW (D1, L1).
  • Leverkusen have won their last three home games against Bremen, although they were tight matches (by a 1-goal margin each time), and are unbeaten in their last six home games against Werder. Bremen's last win in Leverkusen was in May 2008).
  • Bayer 04 have won their last seven competitive games in a run stretching back to last season. They did the same around one year ago, winning nine straight competitive matches between April and August.
  • Leverkusen have won their last two Bundesliga home games after going behind - 4-2 against Hertha on matchday 2 and 2-1 against Bremen on matchday 34 last season. Interestingly, Bayer 04 have gone 1-0 down in eight of their last 10 BL home games.
  • None have Bremen's three competitive games in 2014/15 have produced a winner after 90 minutes. Werder won 3-2 a.e.t. against Illertissen in the cup, before recording draws on the opening two Bundelisga matchdays against Hertha (2-2 away) and Hoffenheim (1-1 at home).
  • Bayer 04 have scored 1,999 Bundesliga goals to date and could become the 11th Bundesliga side to reach the 2,000 mark in the game against Bremen.
  • Leverkusen manager Roger Schmidt has won each of his first five competitive games, equalling the club record (since promotion to the Bundesliga) set by Klaus Augenthaler. "Auge" also won his first five matches in 2003, before losing 1-0 in Bochum in game number six.
  • Werder coach Robin Dutt was in the Leverkusen dugout between summer 2011 and April 2012. His Bundesliga record against Bayer 04 (W1, D1, L4) isn't the best, but his sole win did come while in charge of Bremen (1-0 at home during 2013/14).
  • Leverkusen's Karim Bellarabi has taken 10 shots over the first two matchdays (league high) and by being involved in three goals (scoring two and assisting another), he is top of the Bundesliga charts in that regard together with Hertha's Julian Schieber.
  • Alongside Bellarabi (youth), Simon Rolfes (1999-2004), Sebastian Boenisch (2007-12) and Werder captain Clemens Fritz (2003-06) are all facing their former club.

SC Paderborn 07 - 1. FC Köln

  • After a more than seven-year wait (D3, L3), SC Paderborn finally got back to winning ways against Köln beating them 1-0 away in the 2013/14 second-division season.
  • For the first time in Bundesliga history, all of the promoted sides are unbeaten after two matchdays, though prior to the introduction of the relegation play-off, three sides were promoted to the top-flight.

  • Paderborn have scored in each of their last 12 league fixtures, averaging 2.1 goals per game in that timeframe - they bagged three goals in Hamburg on matchday 2.
  • Thanks to their 3-0 win at HSV, Paderborn equalled the best result for a new side in their first ever Bundesliga away game. Only 1899 Hoffenheim have won by the same margin in their first Bundesliga match on the road, beating Cottbus 3-0 in 2008/09.
  • Bayern and Paderborn are the only sides that have conceded goals solely from set pieces (two each). SCP's have come from a free kick and a penalty.
