Bundesliga Opta Facts : Sept 23 - 24

FC Bayern München - SC Paderborn 07

  • The only competitive meeting between the two sides to date was won by FC Bayern. The record champions secured a 5-1 away win in the first round of the 2001/02 DFB Cup.
  • SCP are the most successful Bundesliga debutant in 23 years (8 points from 4 games). Hansa Rostock started their debut 1991/92 campaign with nine points (assuming three points for a win), although they ended up being relegated.
  • Paderborn are top of the Bundesliga for the first time - they never even managed that in the second division. Their opponents from Munich have led the Bundesliga 653 times.
  • Bayern have lost three of their last four matches against Bundesliga leaders. They have suffered defeats to BVB (April 2012 and February 2011) and Mainz (September 2010), with their only win in that timeframe coming against Wolfsburg (August 2011).
  • Paderborn are just the third Bundesliga debutants to remain unbeaten after four games. The last side to do that were Rot-Weiß Oberhausen in the 1969/70 season (the inaugural 1963/64 Bundesliga campaign is not considered in this statistic).
  • Bayern haven't lost any of their last 11 Bundesliga games during the Oktoberfest period (W8 D3). Their last defeat during the Bavarian festivities came in Dortmund during October 2010 (2-0).
  • SCP are unbeaten in nine league games, a run stretching back to last season (W6 D3). Their last defeat came against Düsseldorf on matchday 29 in 2013/14 (2-1 at home).
  • Bayern have made the most passes (2,728) and have had the highest average possession (66%) in the Bundesliga this season. Paderborn have played the fewest passes in the league (1,303) and have also had the lowest average possession (40%).
  • FC Bayern haven't conceded in three competitive games or 298 minutes. SC Paderborn haven't let in a goal in their last three Bundesliga matches (270 minutes).
  • Manuel Neuer is set to make his 100th Bundesliga appearance for Bayern.
Pep Guardiola could celebrate the 100th Bundesliga goal under his tenure as FCB manager (currently on 99).
  • Uwe Hünemeier assisted both SCP goals in the 2-0 win over Hannover, making him the first Paderborn player in Bundesliga history to be involved in multiple goals in a top-flight match.

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim - Sport-Club Freiburg

  • Four of the last six meetings have ended in a draw. Otherwise, there were home wins for both sides in 2012/13. Freiburg won 5-3 in September 2012 and Hoffenheim 2-1 in February 2013.
  • There have been a staggering 19 goals in the last four meetings between Hoffenheim and Freiburg (4.8 per game). 10 of them have been scored by SCF, nine by TSG.
  • Hoffenheim have hosted this fixture six times in all competitions and have lost just one of those games (W2 D3). SCF's only away win over TSG came on 14th November 2010 (1-0, goal by Papiss Demba Cisse).
  • TSG have taken a 1-0 lead in all four of their league games so far this season - no other side has done the same.
  • SCF's first win of the 2013/14 campaign came on matchday 11 against Nürnberg - they have never had to wait longer for their first win of a Bundesliga season. Freiburg are yet to claim a victory after four games in this campaign.
  • Hoffenheim have collected eight points from their first four league games. TSG have managed to accrue as many points at the same stage once before - they had 10 on the board after their first four matches in 2010/11.
  • Freiburg are without a win in seven Bundesliga games (D3 L4). Their last top-flight victory dates back to matchday 31 in 2013/14 (4-2 against Gladbach).
  • TSG had conceded 12 goals after five competitive games last season. They have let in just two at the same stage of the current campaign.
  • Christian Streich's side haven't won any of their last six away games (D2 L4). In fact, their 4-1 victory in Frankfurt during March is their only Bundesliga win on the road in their last 12 attempts (D3 L8).
  • Oliver Baumann was at Sport-Club Freiburg for 14 years, before moving to Hoffenheim in summer 2014. He won the German championship and cup with SCF at youth level.
  • Kevin Volland has scored three goals in four Bundesliga meetings with Freiburg - he hasn't scored as often against any other top-flight club.

SV Werder Bremen - FC Schalke 04

  • Bremen have taken just two of a possible 24 points from their last 8 Bundesliga meetings with Schalke.
  • Bayern are the only side that Werder have currently been waiting longer for a Bundesliga win against (11 games) compared to the Royal Blues (8, the same as Frankfurt).
  • Bremen and Schalke both go into this meeting without a Bundesliga win this season. There was also a meeting of winless sides on matchday 5 in 2013/14 (Braunschweig 1-1 Nürnberg), who both ended up being relegated.
  • Werder are without a win in five Bundesliga games (D3 L2). That last happened in the second half of last season (also five matches). Bremen have never had to wait longer for a win under Robin Dutt.
  • Schalke are without a Bundesliga win in 2014/15 (D2 L2). If the Royal Blues fail to secure victory in Bremen, their poor start would by historic: S04 last failed to win any of their opening five Bundesliga games in 1967/68.
  • It's only the third time in the last 46 years that Schalke haven't won any of their opening four Bundesliga matches, something which otherwise happened in 1996/97 and 2010/11. S04 ended each season in the bottom half (12th in 1997, 14th in 2011).
  • The Royal Blues haven't won any of their six competitive games this season (D3 L3). That last happened around two years ago (seven competitive fixtures at the end of 2012) and therefore never before under Jens Keller.
  • Neither of these two sides have kept a clean sheet this season and have conceded the most goals in the league behind Hertha (11). Bremen have let in 10, Schalke have conceded 9 (the same as Leverkusen).
  • Bremen (5) and Schalke (3) have scored the most goals in the league during the 15 minutes after half time.
  • Bremen have scored the most goals by strikers in the league (4, the same as Mainz). Schalke, on the other hand, have conceded the most goals from forwards (6).
  • The suspended Julian Draxler (straight red) and Kevin Prince-Boateng (2 yellows) haven't scored against any other club as often in the top flight as they have against Bremen (three times each).

Eintracht Frankfurt - 1. FSV Mainz 05

  • Mainz have won three of the five most recent meetings between the two sides (D1 L1).
  • Frankfurt had only lost one of their previous 18 competitive matches against FSV since the Bundesliga was introduced in 1963 (W7 D10) - a 3-2 second-division defeat in May 2003.
  • The 05ers have won just one of their 10 away games against Eintracht in the first and second division (D4 L5). Mainz's 3-1 win in Frankfurt in November 2012 is also the only away victory in this match-up in the 20 league meetings.
  • Frankfurt have won just one of their last nine Bundesliga games (D3 L5), a 1-0 victory against Freiburg on matchday 1. This poor run began after matchday 29 last season, when Eintracht recorded a 2-0 win over Mainz in the Commerzbank-Arena.
  • FSV are unbeaten after their opening four Bundesliga games of a season for the second time in their club history (W2 D2). That previously happened in 2010/11, when Mainz started the campaign with seven wins and finished in fifth place.
  • Shinji Okazaki has already scored six competitive goals in 2014/15 and the Japanese striker has netted four of FSV's seven in the Bundesliga. Three of his four league goals have put his side 1-0 up.
  • Alexander Meier made his first start this Bundesliga season in the 2-2 draw at Schalke and scored his side's opening goal. The 31-year-old veteran netted the final goal in a 2-0 win over Mainz in the most recent meeting between the sides (April 2014).
  • Eintracht defensive midfielder Slobodan Medojevic is suspended. The Serbian picked up two yellow cards against Schalke and was sent off for the first time in his 30th Bundesliga game.
  • Kevin Trapp has faced 26 shots on target in the first four Bundesliga games of the season and has saved an impressive 21 of them (80.8%).
  • Mainz centre-back Stefan Bell was on loan at Frankfurt in the first half of 2011/12, but he only made two second-division appearances for the Eagles.
  • Kasper Hjulmand is the first Mainz manager to remain unbeaten in his opening four Bundesliga games, a better record than either Jürgen Klopp or Thomas Tuchel at the club.

Borussia Dortmund - VfB Stuttgart

  • Stuttgart haven't won any of their last eight Bundesliga games against BVB (D4 L4) and have lost each of the last three meetings. FC Bayern are the only side that VfB have currently been waiting longer for a win against (9 games).
  • VfB last won in Dortmund over seven years ago, a 1-0 victory under Armin Veh in February 2007.
  • Stuttgart haven't gone into any of their previous 92 Bundesliga meetings with Dortmund as the bottom side in the table.
  • BVB will play their 800th Bundesliga home match in the meeting with Stuttgart. Only four clubs have reached that milestone before Dortmund, including VfB (833 home games).
  • With just one point from four games, Stuttgart have equalled their worst ever Bundesliga start: They also had just one point on the board at the same point of the 1999/2000 campaign.
  • Stuttgart have lost their last three games 2-0. The last time VfB failed to score in three straight Bundesliga games was in autumn 2009. However, they have never gone without a goal in four consecutive top-flight matches before.
  • Borussia Dortmund have won eight of their last nine competitive home fixtures - the exception is their 2-0 loss to Leverkusen on matchday 1.
  • Stuttgart-born Jürgen Klopp will take a seat in the Dortmund dugout for the 209th time in the Bundesliga during the game against VfB. That means he will move above Ottmar Hitzfeld to become the record manager at the club.
  • Armin Veh has managed six different sides (Fürth, Rostock, Stuttgart, Wolfsburg, Hamburg and Frankfurt) in competitive matches against Dortmund and has won just one of 17 meetings with BVB (D2 L14).
  • VfB sporting director Fredi Bobic played in Dortmund between 1999 and 2001 (56 BL games, 17 goals). He even played together with Sebastian Kehl during his last season there.
  • With four assists to his name, Kevin Großkreutz is the Bundesliga player that has set up the joint-most goals in competitive games this season (together with Hakan Calhanoglu).

Bayer 04 Leverkusen - FC Augsburg

  • Bayer 04 have won all six of their Bundesliga meetings with Augsburg, scoring 18 and conceding six. Interestingly, FCA have scored exactly once in each game.
  • Leverkusen have also come out on top in the two DFB Cup meetings between the sides. Bayer 04 won on penalties in the last 16 in Augsburg in 1993/94, before a 2-0 second-round victory in 2008/09 (also away from home).
  • There have been 24 goals in the six Bundesliga games between Leverkusen and Augsburg (4 per game on average), making it the second-highest goalscoring match-up amongst all current Bundesliga sides that have faced each other at least twice (Wolfsburg vs. Hoffenheim: 4.2).
  • Leverkusen are without a win in three competitive games (D1 L2), while Augsburg have celebrated back-to-back victories (1-0 in Frankfurt, 4-2 against Bremen).
  • Bayer 04 have scored at least once in each of their last 15 Bundesliga games - only Wolfsburg are currently on a longer goalscoring streak (30 games). Leverkusen last had a run like that in 2012/13 (also 15 games), with a longer one most recently coming in 2005 (19 games).
  • There have been 19 goals in the four matches involving Leverkusen in 2014/15, a league high. Bayer 04 have scored the most BL goals this season (10), but they've also let in the third most (9, the same as Schalke).
  • Josip Drmic, who scored his first Bundesliga goal for Leverkusen in the match against Wolfsburg, has netted 12 top-flight goals in the calendar year 2014 - more than any other player.
  • Augsburg's Tobias Werder has taken the most shots in the league (17), followed by Leverkusen players Karim Bellarabi (16) and Hakan Calhanoglu (14, the same as Raffael).
  • Leverkusen's Stefan Kießling has scored six goals in six Bundesliga games against Augsburg. He has also notched up three assists in those matches.
  • Augsburg players Jan-Ingwer Callsen-Bracker (36 BL games, 2 goals) and Dominik Reinhardt (youth) used to wear Bayer 04 colours. Also, Dominik Kohr is currently on loan at Augsburg from Leverkusen.
  • Leverkusen's Giulio Donati is suspended after being sent off in Wolfsburg.

Borussia Mönchengladbach - Hamburger SV

  • Gladbach have lost just one of their last seven Bundesliga meetings with HSV (W3 D3) - a 1-0 defeat in Hamburg on matchday 22 in the 2012/13 season.
  • Only Bayern (63) have scored more Bundesliga away goals against Gladbach than HSV (61).
  • Gladbach haven't lost any of their eight competitive matches this season (W4 D4). Their last defeat was a 3-1 loss in Wolfsburg on matchday 34 last season. The last time Borussia went as long without defeat was in 1975/76 (10 competitive games).
  • HSV are the only side in German professional football yet to score a single goal. Hamburg could equal the Bundesliga record held by Bochum, who didn't score in the opening five games in 1979/80. Five consecutive Bundesliga games without a goal would be a club record for HSV.
  • Hamburg are without a win in their last 12 competitive fixtures (D5 L7). The last time they went as long without victory was between August and October 2006, when they failed to win in 14 straight games - a club record since the Bundesliga was introduced.
  • HSV have failed to win any of their last 13 Bundesliga away games (D2 L11). Their last victory on the road was a 3-0 win in Freiburg in October 2013. The last time Hamburg went longer without an away win was between 2002 and 2003 (15 games).
  • HSV's tally of two points and a goal record of none scored and five conceded resembles their fourth-worth start to a Bundesliga season. The last time they were worse at the beginning of a campaign was three years ago - HSV had just one point at this stage in 2011/12, which they finished in 15th.
  • Gladbach's tally of just two goals conceded after four games equals a club record - they have only done the same four times before, most recently 12 years ago in 2002/03. The only time they have let in just two goals after five games was in the 1970/71 campaign.
  • Marcell Jansen was born in Mönchengladbach. He joined Borussia's youth setup as a seven-year-old in 1993 and went on to make 73 Bundesliga appearances for the first team (5 goals), before joining FC Bayern in 2007.
  • Lewis Holtby played in Gladbach's youth team from 2001-04. His 18-year-old brother Joshua currently plays in Borussia's U19s. Andre Hahn was a member of HSV's youth setup and reserves between 2008 and 2010.

Hannover 96 - 1. FC Köln

  • Hannover have won five of their last six Bundesliga home games against 1. FC Köln, losing once. In total, 96 have won 11 of their 20 Bundesliga fixtures against Köln at home (D4 L5).
  • There hasn't been a draw in this fixture in over 25 years, in either the Bundesliga or 2. Bundesliga. The last time they shared the spoils was a 2-2 draw in May 1989 in Hannover.
  • Köln are one of six sides unbeaten after four Bundesliga games and they're also the only team not to have conceded a single goal.
  • However, with just two goals scored after four matchdays, Köln have the third-worst attack - only Hamburg (0) and Stuttgart (1) have scored fewer goals. The Billy Goats have never had fewer goals to their name at this stage of a Bundesliga season before.
  • Hannover are unbeaten in their last five home games and have collected 13 of a possible 15 points in that timeframe.
  • Three of Köln's four matches this season have ended 0-0, a joint Bundesliga record. No team has ever played out four goalless draws in their first five games. However, there has only been one 0-0 between these two sides in the top flight, on 14th October 1972 in Hannover.
  • Alongside Hamburg and Stuttgart, Köln and Hannover are the only teams yet to have scored from a set piece so far this season.
  • Köln's sporting director Jörg Schmadtke held the same role at Hannover between 2009 and 2013. In 2011, while under his leadership, 96 played in a European competition for the first since 1992.
  • Timo Horn set a new Bundesliga record in the match against Gladbach, becoming the first goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet in each of his first four top-flight games.
  • Ron-Robert Zieler was born in Cologne and played for several of the 1. FC Köln's youth sides, before joining Manchester United. Former Hannover sporting director Jörg Schmadtke brought him to the Lower Saxony club in summer 2010.
  • Tayfun Korkut (Fenerbahce) and Peter Stöger (Rapid Vienna) met as players in a Champions League group-phase match. The meeting in Vienna in September 1996 ended in a 1-1 draw.

Hertha BSC - VfL Wolfsburg

  • Wolfsburg have won just three of their 15 away games against Hertha (D4 L8). However, the Wolves have secured victory on each of their last two trips to the capital.
  • In fact, VfL have won their last three Bundesliga games against the Berlin club, scoring eight goals in the process (an average of 2.7 per game).
  • Hertha last went without a win during the first four Bundesliga matchdays in 2004/05. Back then, Berlin ended the season in fourth, with their first win of the season finally coming on matchday 7 (2-0 in Kaiserslautern).
  • Hertha have won just one of their last 16 Bundesliga matches (D6 L9) - a 2-0 home win over relegated Braunschweig. Berlin have collected just two of a possible 18 points from their last six Bundesliga games.
  • Berlin have conceded at least two goals in each of their last seven competitive fixtures (19 goals in total, 2.7 per game on average) - that last happened in autumn 1992.
  • VfL have scored in each of their last 30 Bundesliga games since losing 2-0 to Braunschweig in October 2013, an ongoing club record. No other side has managed to score in each of their BL matches in the calendar year 2014.
  • The Wolves have conceded at least once in each of their last 18 Bundesliga matches - that is also the longest run currently in the top flight and a new club record for VfL.
  • Hertha have the league's leakiest defence having already conceded 11 goals - they had only conceded five times at this point last season.
  • Berlin have only let in more goals in their first four BL matches once before (14 in 1972/73).
  • Ronny, who has scored Hertha's last three BL goals, netted the equaliser in Berlin's 2-2 draw with Freiburg in the 96th minute - the latest top-flight goal in the Bundesliga since detailed statistics started being collected (2004/05). Five of his seven Bundesliga goals have come after the 77th minute.
  • Julian Schieber and Ronny (three each) have scored six of Hertha's seven Bundesliga goals this season (86%), with the other being an own goal. Only Mainz's Okazaki has scored more BL goals than them this season (4).
