Carling Cup second round draw

The Carling Cup first round once again showed reputation counts for little in the season opening knock-out competition as the Championship's Derby County and Sheffield United were ejected by League 2 opponents.

Now, as some of the Premier League's big boys make their bows, everyone will be hoping to reach the potential big third round money spinning ties without too much effort and, more importantly, embarrasment.

Manchester City, now with enough players to field two strong teams, may have been the team to avoid but a tough trip to Neil Warnock's Crystal Palace should be a great test for Mark Hughes' men.

Carling Cup specialists Tottenham, with two Carling Cup final appearances in the past two years, are another not guaranteed safe passage with a mouth-watering tie at Doncaster laying in wait.

Elsewhere though, the tie of the round has to be between local rivals West Ham and Millwall at Upton Park. The Lions are sure to start as massive under-dogs but, with a passionate away following behind them, a big cup shock is never out of the question.

The complete list of Carling Cup second round ties is:

West Brom v Rotherham
Norwich v Sunderland
Tranmere v Bolton
QPR v Accrington Stanley
Bristol City v Carlisle
Leyton Orient v Stoke
