Celtic v Rangers - Part Six
The first trophy of the season in up for grabs this Sunday when the final of the Co-operative Insurance Cup takes place at Hampden Park between the Old Firm teams.
William Hill make Celtic slight favourites to win in 90 minutes at 5/4, the draw is 9/4 whilst Rangers are 11/5 to retain the trophy the won by beating St Mirren in last season's final.
If you fancy this match to go the distance Hills have enhanced the price of the game going to penalties from 9/2 to a whopping 6/1. There is also a special bet on either team to come from behind and win the match. It's 3/1 that Celtic manage to overturn a deficit, 4/1 for Rangers.
That bet includes coming from behind during 90 minutes, extra-time or in a penalty shootout (this means being behind in the penalty shootout score after equal number of penalties have been taken).
These two are no strangers to each other, this is the sixth meeting between the sides this season. Rangers won the first game back in October but Celtic have been in the ascendency since winning three of the next four games including a 1-0 victory in the Scottish Cup earlier this month. It's 17/2 for a repeat of that scoreline in this one.
Celtic have been boosted this week by the news that Georgios Samaras has signed a new three-year deal at Parkhead. He is 6/1 to open the scoring and 40/1 to celebrate his new deal in style with a hat-trick.
Scott Brown and Mark Wilson return from bans to take part.
Rangers must overcome the disappointment of crashing out of the Europa League on Thursday. El-Hadji Diouf got his second goal for the club recently and is 10/3 to score at anytime during the match.
This will be Walter Smith's last Cup Final before he retires and hands the job to his current assistant Ally McCoist. Rangers will be desperate to make it a winning occasion for their boss. They will still have high hopes of winning the Clydesdale Bank Premier League too, they are just two points off the pace with a game in hand. It's 6/5 that they win the title.
Both sides have a proud history in this competition; Rangers have won it 26 times, Celtic 14. The last time Celtic triumphed was in 2009 when they needed extra time to Rangers 2-0 after drawing 0-0 after 90 minutes. It's 12/1 for a repeat of that scoreline.
It's 9/1 that Celtic one again win in extra time, and 10/1 that they win a penalty shoot-out.
William Hill offer a range of markets that can add to the enjoyment of the game. It's 5/2 that a penalty is awarded and scored, 12/1 that there is a missed penalty in the game.
You can also bet on the number of corners and cards shown in the game. It's 9/5 that there are over 12 corners and you can get 5/1 that there are less than four cards shown by the referee.
This should be a cracking game and it's difficult to pick a winner. I expect goals so over 2.5 goals at 4/6 in the correct score market is worthy of a bet the 12/1 odds for a 2-2 looks tempting.
William Hill's Match Winner price of 6/1 that the game goes to penalties looks too good to miss. The game is live and William Hill offer 100+ markets in-play.
