Champions League: Opta Facts 25-26 February

The Champions League returns this week with the last sixteen teams battling it out to progress to the quarter final stage. For this and every round of Champions League matches we will bring you the facts that help your betting in conjuction with Opta Sportsdata, Europe's leading sports performance data providers.

As is usual all Champions League matches are live on tv. On Tuesday Sir Alex Ferguson's Man Utd travel to the San Siro to take on Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan on ITV1. On ITV4 another Anglo-Italian clash sees Arsenal against Roma.

The other two English sides in the competition, Chelsea and Liverpool, play on Wednesday. A third Anglo-Italian match-up takes place at Stamford Bridge as Claudio Ranieri returns to face his former employers Chelsea live on Sky Sports Xtra. Then on Sky Sports 2 Liverpool face a daunting trip to the Bernabeu to take on Real Madrid.

Arsenal v Roma

  • The Blues were the only team with a 100% home record in the Group Stages.

Inter Milan v Man Utd

  • Inter have lost their last three Champions League games against English opposition.
  • United have lost only one of their last seven Champions League clashes with Italian teams.
  • The Italian champions have won only two of their last eight Champions League matches.
  • Man Utd have gone 19 Champions League games unbeaten, equalling the record held jointly by Ajax (1994-1996) and Bayern 2001-2002.
  • However, the holders have won only two of the last seven Champions League games outside of penalty shoot outs.

  • The Yellow Submarines have won only five of 18 Champions League matches, but only lost three.
  • Panathinaikos have kept three clean sheets in a row.
  • The Greeks have also won their last three games but have never won four in a row in the Champions League.
  • Panathinaikos have lost all six Champions League away games in Spain, conceding 15 goals and scoring just two in the process.
  • Villarreal have kept six clean sheets in nine Champions League matches at El Madrigal and only one team has scored more than once there - Aalborg in a 6-3 win for the Spanish side.
