Champions League Opta Facts – 3-4 November

Astana v Atletico Madrid

  • The match played out between these sides in the previous matchday was the first time they had ever met; Atletico claimed a 4-0 victory.
  • Astana have lost all three of their previous encounters with Spanish opposition (including qualifiers); conceding 11 and scoring none across those games.
  • Diego Simeone's men have kept clean sheets in each of their last three group stage matches played away from home.
  • Atletico Madrid have registered more shots on target than any other side so far this season in the Champions League (25).

  • Malmö have lost all four of their away games in their short Champions League history; failing to score in three of those games.

  • The Spanish side are unbeaten in their last eight games against French sides in Europe (W5 D3) and have lost just once (against PSG in 1994) in 13 home games against sides from across the Pyrenees (W9 D3).
  • Against all sides Real Madrid have lost just once in their last 25 home games in European competition (FC Schalke 04 back in March - W21 D3).
  • PSG have kept three consecutive clean sheets, they have never kept four clean sheets on the bounce in the Champions League.

  • Wolfsburg are unbeaten in their four previous European games against Dutch opposition (W3 D1).
  • PSV have failed to score in four of their last six European games, a run spanning the end of their Europa League campaign of last season.
  • Wolfsburg have only failed to score once in nine Champions League group games. They have opened the scoring in each of their first three games in the competition this season.

  • This will be just the fourth meeting between these sides in European competition, with Juventus searching for their first win against Mönchengladbach (D2 L1).
  • Juventus however are unbeaten in their last three Champions League games against German opposition (W2 D1), this after failing to win any of the previous four before that (D1 L3).
  • The Old Lady are unbeaten in their last 15 home games in European competitions (W9 D6) however their last two home defeats in the competition have come at the hands of German opposition (FC Bayern München).
  • Gladbach are searching for their first victory in the Champions League (D1 L2) and are winless in European competition in 2015 overall (D1 L4).
  • Juventus have lost only one of their last 13 Champions League games (W8 D4). It was the 2015 final against Barcelona.
  • Juve mustered only two shots on target from the 22 (including blocked) they attempted in matchday three against Borussia Mönchengladbach.

  • Barcelona are unbeaten in their last 12 games at home in the Champions League, winning 11 and drawing one in that run.
  • BATE Borisov have lost eight of their nine Champions League games against Spanish opposition.
  • Including qualifying, BATE have not won away from home in any of their last 13 Champions League games (D4 L9), failing to score in six of those matches.
  • Each of the three clashes between these sides has seen a brace scored by a Barcelona player (Rakitic, Pedro & Messi).
