Copa America - set to explode

What do we know after the first round of the Copa America games, the answer is absolutely nothing.

Brazil and Argentina, many people's pre-tournament favourites both failed to impress in their opening game and it was the Argentines who felt the wrath of their national media. Group B is pretty much as we were with all four teams failing to score resulting in two surprising 0-0 draws.

Chile and Colombia are the only two teams to have registered a win in the first round of matches. However Colombia only managed a 1-0 win over a 10 man Costa Rica, a result which has also left them open for criticism.

Chile put in a sterling performance to come from behind and beat a very young Mexico side, they have never won the Copa America, but based on form they would be the current favs. Apart from Luis Suarez, none of the big strikers managed to score. Sergio Aguero came off the Argentine bench to save his team's blushes and salvage a draw with Bolivia. We have enhanced the price on the Atletico Madrid striker to score first in Argentina's next game which is against current group leaders Colombia, you can back him at the enhanced price of 5/1.

Uruguay and Paraguay are both tipped as potential dark horses but both only managed a draw in their opening game. Paraguay face a massive clash in their next game as they go up against Group B and tournament favourites Brazil.

Although it has been a slow start to the tournament expect things to hot up as the big guns start to find form. Over 2.5 goals may be the bets for the next sets of fixtures as teams will look to alleviate the pressure heaped on them after some bad opening games.

Argentina have slightly shorted as favs for the tournament, and at Evs they are still a good bet. It is set up for a fairytale story as they look to claim their first Copa America since 1993. The winners of Group B will be determined when Brazil and Paraguay face off, I have a feeling that this is setup for Paraguay to go all the way, so it might be worth backing them to win the group at 7/2. Chile are favourites to top group C at 10/11, but I think the 6/4 about Uruguay seems to be a big price.

You can still enter our predictor competition which closes after the end of the group games, all you need to do is predict in the correct order, your final four for this year's tournament. Simples.
