Dubliner places €30k bet on Blackpool relegation
A William Hill punter has placed a €30,000 bet on Blackpool being relegated from the Premier League this season.
The Dublin shop punter, who took odds of 4/6 on Ian Holloway's side being relegated, stands to collect a tasty €50k if the ‘Tangerines' go down.
Newly promoted Blackpool had a great start to the season beating the likes of Liverpool (twice), Spurs and Sunderland, but a string of poor results has seen them plummet towards the wrong end of the table.
‘The shop staff were shocked when the gentleman asked for the 30k bet,' said William Hill spokesman Tony Kenny, ‘It's a brave bet, but you can understand why he's sticking his neck out.'
‘Blackpool have lost 11 of their last 15 games in the league and they now sit perilously close to the relegation zone.'
