'In Roy We Trust' England 18/1 For World Cup

Following their qualification for the World Cup finals, William Hill have trimmed the price of England lifting the Cup from 20/1 to 18/1.

Brazil are the current 10/3 favourite, with Argentina & Germany 9/2.

Starting with three strikers (Wellbeck, Rooney and Sturridge) is working and it is 10/11 that England field all three for their first World Cup match. Wayne Rooney is possibly the key player for England and he is 2/1 to be England's top scorer and 16/1 to be the tournaments highest scorer.

Man of the moment Andros Townsend is 5/2 to be in the starting line-up for the first England match of the World Cup.

Roy Hodgson is a conservative man and William Hill are offering 25/1 that he forces the England team to travel alone - leaving the wives and girlfriends at home.

"England have improved throughout qualification and although they will need a bit of luck, they have to be seen as contenders for the Cup," said William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams.
