England face Wales in kind draw to Capello

The draw for the Euro 2012 qualifying took place in Warsaw this morning and England will fancy their chances of making it through to the Euros for the first time since 2004.

The last thing Fabio Capello would've wanted after this week was a nightmare group to get through, but thankfully for the Italian the draw has been to England.

The Three Lions face a derby with Wales and also three fairly comfortable looking opponents in Switzerland, Bulgaria and Montenegro.

The other home nations, due to the seeding system have not had such good fortune with their groups.

The Republic of Ireland, following their heartache in the World Cup play-offs, will arguably be the most confident of qualifying as they have Macedonia, Armenia and Andorra all to play, as well as tricky looking matches against Russia and Slovakia - it looks like they will probably have to go through the play-offs again as I can't see them finishing above the Russians but they impressed against Italy in the World Cup qualifiers so they've every chance.

Northern Ireland look to have their work cut out, as they must get past World Cup champions Italy as well as Serbia, Slovenia (who they lost to and beat in the World Cup qualifiers), Estonia and the Faroe Islands.

It's a baptism of fire for Craig Levein in his first qualifying campaign in charge of Scotland, as his side will have to get past Euro 2008 winners and World Cup favourites Spain, the Czech Republic, Lithuania and Liechtenstein.

The draw in full is below:

Group A
