Europa League Final Opta Facts - 27 May

Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk v Sevilla

  • This is the first time Dnipro have reached a major European final. They are the third Ukrainian side to do this, after Dynamo Kiev (winning two Cup Winners' Cups in 1974/75 and 1985/86) and Shakhtar Donetsk (winning the UEFA Cup in 2008/09).
  • This will be Sevilla's fourth appearance in a UEFA Cup/Europa League final, having won the previous three in 2005/06, 2006/07 and last season.
  • Should Los Rojiblancos lift the trophy, they will become the first side to retain the UEFA Cup/Europa League twice (the only other team to do it once are Real Madrid in 1985 and 1986). They would also be the first side to win four UEFA Cups/Europa Leagues (Juventus, Inter Milan and Liverpool also have three).
  • In the last 14 matches between sides from these two nations in major European competitions, Spain have lost just twice (W8 D4).
  • Dnipro's only previous match against a Spanish side in Europe ended in defeat, losing 2-1 to Real Zaragoza in the 2004/05 UEFA Cup group stage.
  • By contrast, Sevilla have never lost to an Ukrainian side in Europe, winning three of four.
  • The last two Europa League/UEFA Cup finals to be decided by a penalty shootout have been won by Sevilla (2006/07 and 2013/14).
  • Despite both playing 14 games in this competition so far, Sevilla (26) have scored exactly twice as many goals as Dnipro (13).
  • Yevhen Konoplyanka has assisted more of Dnipro's goals on the road to the final than any other player (3).
  • However, Konoplyanka has had 31 shots in the Europa League this season (including blocked efforts), but has found the net only once.
  • Carlos Bacca has been involved in five goals in his last five Europa League games (scoring three, assisting two). He is the highest scorer left in the competition.
  • No side has kept more clean sheets in the tournament this campaign than Dnipro (7, level with Napoli).
  • Aleix Vidal has four assists in the competition so far, behind only to Andriy Yarmolenko (7) and Kevin de Bruyne (5).
  • Dnipro's Douglas has made the most clearances in the Europa League this season (134), 50 more than anyone else.
