Grecians approaching an unwanted record

Exeter City vs Ipswich Town in the first round of the Carling Cup is not a fixture that most people would think of as historic, but the result of this match could see the Grecians edge one step closer to a record that they would rather not have.

City are just two defeats away from equalling Doncaster Rovers' run of 22 consecutive matches in the League Cup without a win, having not made it past the first round of the competition since way back in 1993:

Can Paul Tisdale's side finally end their horrific run of form in the Carling Cup as they take on Roy Keane's Ipswich side at St James Park?

Their opponents will surely be full of confidence after their away victory against Middlesbrough in their opening league match of the season.

Exeter have not won a home tie in the League Cup 17 years, will tonight be the night they finally give their fans something to cheer about?
