Hills Hit For Seven Figures On Worst European Night In Years
William Hill punters were toasting the return of Champions League football on Tuesday night as the firm were on the receiving end of a seven figure hammering. The Bookmakers also give money back to unlucky punters!
A number of the favourites obliged on the continent including Real Madrid's (4/6) last minute swing against Manchester City, PSG (4/5), Arsenal (17/10) and Borussia Dortmund (8/15) as well as a number in the Football League. On top of that, Cristiano Ronaldo scored the winning goal for Manchester City which copped the 2/1 enhanced wincast that cost almost £50,000.
"It was a perfect storm on Tuesday night and the only game that went our way was AC Milan being held at home by Anderlecht," said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly. "Unfortunately, that game was the one that let most people down but due to our Acca Insurance offer, we refunded over £20,000 worth of stakes to punters who got just one result wrong."
The biggest payout that William Hill had to make on Tuesday was £80,500 to one lucky punter who placed £3,500 on Real Madrid to win 3-2 at 22/1.
The William Hill Acca insurance is available to all mobile punters who place an accumulator of five teams or more. Should one side let you down, your stake will be refunded in full (up to a maximum of £50).
On Tuesday William Hill refunded 4441 bets - the previous highest was 2474 bets.
