Hughes a Rovers rebel then?

Mark Hughes returns to Ewood Park with his Manchester City side, fresh off a 5-1 thrashing of Hull on Boxing Day.

Hughes left Blackburn in the summer for the then bigger bank balance of Man City which turned into the virtually bottomless pit after the Abu Dhabi takeover at Eastlands.

All the ex-Wales manager wanted for Christmas was Santa from Blackburn and a few wins. Ever since his summer move Hughes has been after Blackburn hitman Roque Santa Cruz.

Yet despite Santa hoping to get away this Christmas new Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce is determined to hang on to last season's top scorer.

Nevertheless Man City were buoyed by their emphatic win over Hull and will hope to win two league matches in a row for just the second time this season.

City are also after just their second away win of the season and can be backed at 7/4 to come away from Ewood Park with the points.

Blackburn are unbeaten in Allardyce's first two matches in charge and are 6/4 for the win with the draw available at 23/10.

Both teams desperately need the points with Blackburn three points from safety and City just four points ahead of Rovers.

Despite being down in 15th, City have the sixth best goal difference in the league and when they are on-form there are not many better teams in the league.

But with Blackburn's new found belief under Big Sam and Man City's poor away form the draw looks like the bet.

Blackburn rebel and Man City target Santa Cruz is unlikely to feature due to injury so the striking responsibilities for Rovers will likely fall to Benni McCarthy (6/1 first goal, 7/4 anytime) and Jason Roberts (15/2 first goal, 9/4 anytime).

Star man Robinho is a 7/4 shot to score at anytime for City and influential midfielder and star of the Boxing Day show Stephen Ireland is 7/2 to find the back of the net.
