Hughes in no mood for Saint-ly behaviour
Mark Hughes's Man City face Paris Saint-Germain in their third UEFA Cup Group A match. Hughes is safe in the knowledge that his City side are already through to the round of 32 of the competition.
However Hughes wants his Eastlands outfit to progress to the next stage of the UEFA Cup in style by topping the group. City have won two out of two so far in the group stage and a third win tonight would mean that they would confirm their place at the top of the group.
To get the three points and secure their status as top dogs in group A, City are 8/11 shots. This could be a worrying price to back especially as City could be without key players Robinho, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Micah Richards this evening.
Having said that Paris Saint-Germain have only accumulated one point from their two matches and sit bottom of the group. An away win at 4/1 looks out of reach.
The draw at 5/2 looks more likely than the away win. It's fair to say though that the City faithful will be under-whelmed with a draw, especially after the derby defeat at home to Man chester United at the weekend.
Therefore, depending on the eventual starting line-up, it will probably be most wise to back City at 8/11 to grant Mark Hughes his wish and, in the process, eliminate the French side from this year's competition.
If Robinho starts then he is a must to back to grab a goal at any stage during the match. In his fifteen matches for City the Brazilian has notched nine goals. The ex-Real Madrid star can be backed at 6/5 to oblige.
A Robinho-less Man City starting line-up this evening could see Daniel Sturridge given a chance to impress and if that is the way Mark Hughes goes then it is the young striker who appeals the most in the goal scorer markets. Sturridge is a 2/1 shot to score the first goal.
