Ireland now odds-on for Euro 2012 qualification
The Republic of Ireland now odds for Euro 2012 qualification
The Republic of Ireland's Euro 2012 qualification odds have been cut from 10/11 to 4/6 following their 2-1 victory at home to Macedonia on Saturday night.
The Irish, who were heavily backed to win at the Aviva, are now on the same number of points as Russia and Slovakia at the top of Group B.
Russia are still the red hot 8/13 favourites to win the group with William Hill - who also offer 3/1 about Ireland topping the group, 3/1 Slokavia, and 100/1 about both Macedonia, and Armenia.
‘The match against Macedonia was a potential banana skin for the Irish, but the victory at the Aviva now leaves Trapattoni's men in a good position in Group B,' said William Hill spokesman Tony Kenny, ‘Our betting suggests it's going to be a tight race for the top two spots in the group - with Russia, Slovakia and Ireland all in the qualification mix.'
