Irish eyes are smiling as Blackpool sink
A William Hill punter from Dublin has won €50,000 after Blackpool were relegated from the English Premier League.
The insightful punter, who struck the bet on the 14th of April, put €30,000 at odds of 4/6 on the tangerines going down and collected a tasty €50,000 for his troubles.
The punter looked to have lost his money when Blackpool took a 2-1 lead in their game against Manchester United. However, the champions bounced back to win the game 4-2 and send Blackpool down into the Championship.
"It must have been hell for the punter," said William Hill spokesman Tony Kenny, "At one stage it looked like he was going to lose €30,000, but thanks to a final flurry from Manchester United he'll be collecting €50,000 from us."
"I bet he'll be sending a nice bottle of bubbly to Sir Alex Ferguson," said Kenny
WILL CHARLIE ADAM NOW JOIN UNITED?
WILLIAM HILL have made Manchester United 11/4 favourites to be Charlie Adam's next port of call in their market for where the star will move to from Blackpool. 'His performance against United will have confirmed Fergie's high opinion of Charlie Adam, so he could find himself on United's shopping list' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.
