Barcelona v Real Sociedad

  • Barcelona have won their last 15 home league meetings with Real Sociedad, winning their last three by an average of four goals per game.
  • The Basque side were one of only two teams (alongside Real Madrid) able to defeat Barcelona in the league last season (3-2 at the Anoeta).
  • New Sociedad striker Haris Seferovic (21 years old) was not born on the day of Real Sociedad's last league victory at the Nou Camp (1-3 in 1991).
  • Lionel Messi has scored in every meeting between these side at the Nou Camp since Real Sociedad were promoted in 2010 (five goals in three games).
  • Chory Castro has scored three goals against Barcelona in the league; more than against any other side since he joined Real Sociedad.
  • Tata Martino has won his first five league games this season; something Tito Villanova achieved last season and Pep Guardiola achieved in 2009/10; Barca won the league on both of those occasions.
  • Real Sociedad are winless in four league games (D3 L1); their worst run this calendar year.

Levante v Valladolid

  • Levante have only won one of their last four meetings with Valladolid in the top-flight (L3), and that was the only game in this run in which they netted (2-1 last season).
  • Real Valladolid scored a league-high four own goals last season, including one in a defeat to Levante (Rukavina in the 90th minute).
  • In six previous top-flight meetings, these sides have never shared a draw (three wins apiece).
  • Juan Ignacio Martinez will face his former club for the first time; he has won more top-flight games with Levante than any manager in their top-flight history (28) and also led them to Europe for the first time.

  • Atletico Madrid have won six of their last seven league meetings with Osasuna (D1); against no side have they won more often since 2009/10).
  • The side from Navarra have only scored one goal in their last four visits to the Vicente Calderon combined, and that came in a 3-1 defeat last season.
  • If Atleti win this game, Diego Simeone will have enjoyed more victories over Osasuna than against any other side (four).
  • Osasuna won 1-0 at the Vicente Calderon on April 26th, 2003; the date they celebrated their 100th anniversary.
  • Diego Costa has scored more goals against Osasuna than any other side in La Liga (seven).
  • Atletico have won their opening five games this season; they have not won their first six since 1991/92, when they finished the campaign in third place.
  • Javi Garcia achieved his first victory with Osasuna last weekend in his first game played at El Sadar (2-1 v Elche).
    Diego Costa has scored in four of the five La Liga weekends this season (five goals).
  • Only Cesc Fabregas (five) has made more assists than Koke (four) this term.


Malaga v Almeria

  • Malaga have only won two of their six meetings with Almeria in the top-flight (D1 L3), but both came at La Rosaleda.
  • Almeria have scored at least once in all six derbies against Malaga played in the Primera Division.
  • Malaga won the most Andalusian derbies in the top-flight last season (three of six), Almeria won the most in the second division (five of six).
  • Against no side have Almeria had more players sent off in the top-flight than they have against Malaga (four).
  • Bern Schuster's side are unbeaten in three league games (W1 D2) and have kept a clean sheet in their last two.
  • Almeria have lost a league-high seven points from winning positions this season.
  • In the last league game at La Rosaleda, Mounir El Hamdaoui scored the first top-flight hat-trick by a Malaga player since Salva Ballesta against Barcelona in 2003.
  • Francisco's side have scored exactly two goals in all five league games this season but have yet to win (D3 L2).

Granada v Valencia

  • Granada have lost five successive league meetings with Valencia; their worst run against them in the top-flight.
  • Los Che are one of only two teams (with Barcelona) that Granada are yet to take a point against since their most recent promotion (four defeats).
  • In fact, Granada have only scored one goal in these four meetings with Valencia (scored by Brayan Angulo in a 1-2 home defeat last season).
  • Granada have lost two successive home league defeats; they have never lost three in a row under Lucas Alcaraz.
  • Lucas Alcaraz has won none and lost four of his six top-flight meetings with Valencia as a manager (D2).
  • Granada have gone 207 minutes without scoring a home league goal; El-Arabi scored their last one against Getafe last season.
  • Miroslav Djukic's side have lost three successive away league games, conceding 10 goals in total in this run.
  • Victor Ruiz last weekend became the first Spaniard to score for Valencia since Roberto Soldado back on June 1.

Sevilla v Rayo Vallecano

  • Sevilla have scored two or more goals in each of their last six home league meetings with Rayo Vallecano (W3 D1 L2).
  • Los Franjirrojos have scored a penalty on each of their last two trips to Nervión (Chori Dominguez last season, Diego Costa two seasons ago).
  • Unai Emery has won all three of his league meetings with Rayo as a top-flight manager (eight goals scored, three conceded).
  • Rayo Vallecano won 3-2 at the Pizjuan in 1999/00 in the season in which they recorded their second-best top-flight finish (ninth) but their opponents were relegated.
  • Rayo have lost four successive league games; their worst ever run with Paco Jemez at the helm.
  • Sevilla have never had two points after five games of a top-flight campaign before. Assuming three points for a win, on the two occasions they have had fewer points (one), they have not been relegated (1950 and 1959).
  • Excluding Ronaldo and Messi, no La Liga player has more goals across all competitions than Kevin Gameiro this season (five).

Elche v Real Madrid

  • Elche have only won one of their last 10 meetings with Real Madrid in the top-flight (D3 L6); 3-1 in 1978.
  • The Whites have won their last two league visits to Elche; they have never won three in a row there.
  • Four of Elche's six home victories over Real Madrid in the league have ended in the same scoreline; 1-0.
  • Elche are still searching for their first top-flight victory in the Martinez Valero since 1989 (3-0 v Murcia).
  • Coro, the only Elche player to score a home goal this season, has played more games against Real Madrid without scoring than any other side in the top-flight (12).
  • Elche could become the 27th different La Liga side that Cristiano Ronaldo has scored against (150 goals against the other 26 sides so far).
  • Between them, Isco (four) and Ronaldo (four) have scored 66% of Real Madrid's league goals this season.
  • Elche captain Edu Albacar is one of only two players (with Almeria's Verza) to have scored more than one penalty this season.
  • Elche, who have drawn three of their five league games this season, have never drawn four of their opening six games in a single La Liga campaign.
  • Of all teams to have scored at home this term, Elche have the worst shot conversion rate (5.26%).


Athletic v Betis

  • Athletic have gone four games in a row without a victory over Betis (D1 L3); their last victory came back in 2009 when Joaquin Caparros was in charge.
  • The Green-and-Whites won their last two league visits to the old San Mames with an average of four goals per game to their name.
  • Ernesto Valverde;s side attempted 16 shots in their opening match at their new stadium; the most they have had in a game this season.
  • Athletic have the opportunity to win three successive home league games for the first time since February 2011.
  • Betis have only won five points from five games this season; their worst start to a top-flight campaign since promotion two seasons ago.
  • Benat, who has scored for Betis on their last two trips to Bilbao in La Liga, scored his first goal for Athletic in the first game at the new San Mames.
  • Ruben Castro has scored in each of Real Betis's last three meetings with Athletic.
  • Only one Andalusian side has defeated Athletic Bilbao at their own ground since the start of 2012, but that was Betis themselves (3-5, August 2012).
  • Salva Sevilla has participated in each of Real Betis's last three league goals this season (two goals, one assist).


Getafe v Celta Vigo

  • Getafe have won two and drawn one of their three home meetings with Celta in La Liga, though Celta have won all three between these sides in Vigo.
  • El Coliseum is the only stadium in Madrid that Celta Vigo have never won at in La Liga.
  • Celta Vigo have lost their last four top-flight visits to Madrid.
  • No player has had more shots (excluding blocked) without scoring than Adrian Colunga this season (10).
  • Augusto Fernandez scored in both of Celta Vigo's meetings with the Blues last season; Getafe are his favourite La Liga opponents.
  • Following this game, Luis Garcia will have managed more top-flight games than any other Getafe manager in their history (32% win rate).
  • Toni has attempted more crosses than any other player this season (48).
  • Celta Vigo have been fouled just 44 times all season; a league-low.

  • Villarreal have gone nine games without defeat against Espanyol in La Primera (W4 D5), with five of these games ending goalless.
  • The Catalan side are without a goal in seven visits to El Madrigal in the league; Albert Lopo netter their last goal there back in 2005.
  • The Yellow Submarine failed to score last week having netted at least twice in each of their opening four games.
  • In their last 37 home league games, the side from Castellon have conceded exactly one goal per game on average.
  • Los Pericos have kept a clean sheet in each of their last six away wins in the league.
  • The Catalan side have been shown four red cards in their last six meetings with Villarreal in the top-flight.
  • Espanyol have won just one of their last 23 league visits to the Comunidad Valenciana (D6).
  • In five previous meetings as La Liga managers, Javier Agurre (W3) and Marcelino Garcia Toral (W2) have never drawn. The Espanyol manager is still searching for his first away win with the Catalans (D2 L1).
  • Villarreal are, together with Atletico Madrid, the team to have scored the most goals in the final 30 minutes of games this season (six).
  • Giovani dos Santos has scored three goals in five league games this season, the same total he managed with Barcelona after 28 games.
