Leaky Pool to hold out for draw

Liverpool v Man City - live on Sky Sports 1

These sides will both want a major improvement from their opening round of League fixtures and will need to up their games at Anfield if they hope to be claiming three points. Liverpool got their season under way at the Hawthorns where they slipped to a 3-0 defeat, In contrast Man City did open with a win but Roberto Mancini will be less than happy with the manner of the 3-2 victory over Southampton.

Liverpool (19/10) were disappointing against West Brom but they were better against Hearts in midweek and with further improvement from Brendan Rodgers side they may be capable of emerging from this with their first League points. The Reds will be able to welcome back captain Steven Gerrard (10/1 First/Last, 7/2 Anytime) who was rested for the European clash. A fit Gerrard is crucial to Liverpool success and the captain will be needed to pull all the strings in the middle of the park.

They will also be able to select Luis Suarez (6/1 First/Last, 7/4 Anytime), who is also the subject of our enhanced wincast offer and the Uruguayan is 5/1 to score in a Liverpool win. He missed a fair few chances against the Baggies but on the positive side at least they were able to create chances for him. He could line up alongside Andy Carroll (9/1 First/Last, 10/3 Anytime) and the Big Man has scored more against Man City than any other club. They can also welcome back Martin Skrtel and Glen Johnson to a defence that will have a huge hole in with the suspension of Daniel Agger.

The defending Champions Man City (6/4, draw 21/10) started this season the way they finished - with a late winner. They were staring down the barrel of defeat against the Saints with 20 minutes left become coming back to claim a 3-2 win. They looked good going forward but shaky at the back and have seen their attacking options for this reduced as they have lost last season's top scorer Aguero to a knee injury.

Man City will most likely look to the happy again Tevez to lead the line and the Argentinian is 4/1 First/Last, Evs Anytime and the feature player in our enhanced wincast as he is 5/2 to score in a Man City win - enhanced from 15/8. Liverpool can be suspect when defending set pieces so value can be found with Joleon Lescott, the big defender is 20/1 First/Last and 7/1 to score anytime and is well worth a shout.

On the look of things this one has a draw written all over it with Man City missing Aguero and four of the last seven between these sides have ended all square. Man City have not won at Anfield since 2003 which represents a run of 10 fixtures and the draw is where the sensible money lies. Both teams have firepower and this should be good for both teams to score which is 4/6 and a solid bet, however I think it's better to be backing the score draws of 1-1 (6/1) and 2-2 (14/1) represent better bets at bigger prices.

One final bet that's worth looking at is over on the booking points, while Man City committed the least fouls in the Premier League this season there is a history of red cards in this fixture and a red card in the match is a rather generous 3/1!

Best bets:

Draw @ 21/10

Both teams to score @ 4/6

Worth a Punt:

Joleon Lescott anytime @ 7/1

Red Card @ 3/1
