Opta Facts Champions League Last 16 – Second leg

 

 

Atletico Madrid - AC Milan

 

  • AC Milan have been knocked out in each of their last four Champions League knockout ties against Spanish teams.
  • AC Milan have only won one of their last 14 Champions League games against Spanish teams (6 draws, 7 defeats), a 2-0 victory against Barcelona in February 2013.
  • Atletico Madrid have won their last four competitive encounters with Italian teams in all competitions (9 goals for, 1 against).
  • AC Milan have been knocked out in the last 16 in four of their last five Champions League campaigns.
  • AC Milan have won only two of their last 13 Champions League knockout games (D3 L8). They've failed to win any of their last seven away games in the knockout stages (D2 L5).
  • This is only the third time that Atletico Madrid have reached the knockout stages of the Champions League after 1996/97 (quarter finalists) and 2008/09 (last 16).

  • This is the third time that Arsenal and Bayern Munich are meeting in the last 16 of the Champions League. The Bavarian club have progressed both times previously (2004/05 and 2012/13).
  • Bayern Munich have reached the final of the Champions League in three of the last four seasons. They are the defending champions after last season's win against Dortmund.
  • Arsenal are the last team to keep a clean sheet against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, when the Gunners won 2-0 at the Allianz Arena on 13 March 2013. Since then, the Bavarians have scored 32 goals in 12 games in the competition.
  • Bayern Munich have won 11 of their last 12 Champions League games (L1).

  • The last three Champions League visits by English clubs to Camp Nou have produced 13 goals.

  • Chelsea are unbeaten against Galatasaray (W2 D1), scoring seven goals and conceding only one.
  • Chelsea are unbeaten in their last seven Champions League knockout games (W4, D3).
  • Chelsea have won 10 of their last 12 home games in the Champions League (D1 L1).
  • The Blues have scored in each of their last 12 Champions League games at home. Manchester Utd were the last opposing side to keep a clean sheet at Stamford Bridge in the competition on 6 April 2011.
  • Galatasaray have never won in England in eight trips in all competitions (D3 L5).
  • Galatasaray are winless in their last four away games in the Champions League (D1 L3), their last win dating back to the second leg of their last 16 tie against Schalke last season (3-2).
  • Galatasaray have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 16 Champions League games away from home. The last time they didn't concede on their travels was back in September 2002 against Lokomotiv Moscow.

  • This is the 17th consecutive season in which Real Madrid have reached the knockout round of the Champions League, the longest run in the history of the competition. They've reached the semi-finals in each of the last three seasons but haven't gone to the final since 2002.
  • Real Madrid are one of only two teams still unbeaten in the Champions League this season, alongside Atletico Madrid.
  • Bayern Munich are the only German side to have beaten Real Madrid at the Bernabeu in the Champions League (1999/00 & 2000/01).
  • Real Madrid have won 13 of their last 15 Champions League games at the Santiago Bernabeu, drawing the other two. Barcelona are the last team to defeat the Merengues in Madrid (27 April 2011).
  • Real Madrid have scored in each of their last 32 Champions League games, the longest run in the history of the competition. The last time they failed to find the net was against Barcelona on 27 April 2011 (0-2). They are the top scorers this season (26 goals).
  • Schalke had never conceded more than four goals in a Champions League game before their first-leg defeat against Real Madrid (1-6).

  • Zenit St Petersburg have only won one of their seven games in the Champions League this season, the lowest tally among the 16 teams in the knockout stages.

  • AC Milan were the last team to stop Manchester Utd from scoring at Old Trafford in the knockout stages of the Champions League, back in February 2005.
  • Manchester Utd have won their three home games in the Champions League this season.
  • Olympiakos have lost all seven of their Champions League games in England, conceding at least two goals every time and never scoring more than one.
  • In seven knockout Champions League games, Olympiakos have only lost once by more than one clear goal. It was against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in March 2008 (0-3).
